Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Great Bulgaria

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Merge and Redirect. This article is a microstub and gives no real context. It should be merged with the Bulgars article which contains much more information. "Great Bulgaria" should remain as a redirect only. --Briangotts 05:25, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I dispute the judgement of User Briangotts with regard to the article, the article should simply be expanded, lack of material or desire to that does not automatically mean that the article should be deleted, although this is certainly the laziest and easiest choice. The existence of this article is furthermore necessary as regards the differentiation between the three historical Bulgar states: Volga Bulgaria, Danubian Bulgaria and Great Bulgaria, which have all been called simply Bulgaria during their existence. • The difference here is that the Great Bulgaria article has only a few bits of information that are gone into much greater detail in the "Bulgars" article. It is redundant. If, for example, there was detailed information in the Great Bulgaria article about the government and history of that state, as distinct from the history of the early Bulgars, that would be a different story in my opinion. Volga Bulgaria, Danube Bulgaria, etc. should have their own entries because those states lasted significantly longer than GB, and there is therefore much more information available about them. A redirect would function just as well; the information is all there in Bulgars.
