Here's the opening sentence:

A mesolect is a register whose character falls somewhere between the prestige of the acrolect and the informality of the basilect

If I hadn't just looked at some related articles, I would have had no idea, after reading that sentence, whether this is about styles of clothing or religious worship or schools for instruction in French cooking or military parades or what. Michael Hardy 22:33, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
