As per your additions to Vilnius University - Wilno joined Poland in 1922, not in 1919. However, I think that the initial sentence is harmless, so let's make it stay. Halibutt 16:23, Jun 25, 2004 (UTC)

Your Opinion Please I'm not of Lithuanian origin, but made what I thought were some "harmless", but linguistically accurate edits to the English Catherine I of Russia article, in Wikipedia. Boy was I surprised at the virulent and illogical arguments that I incurred in response. Could you look at the History and Dicussion of this article from the time-- "RV ridiculous Lithuanization" , and give an opinion.

Thanks for your recent additions in that article. It badly needed the "second leg" - some more Lithuanians and Belorussians. Halibutt 10:22, Jul 8, 2004 (UTC)

Are you requesting that the page be protected until a compromise can be reached? -JCarriker 15:14, Jul 8, 2004 (UTC)

No, I don't think that protection is not a solution, a least not yet. I hope this conflict can be resolved easier. Knutux 16:24, 2004 Jul 8 (UTC)

Alright, but I can only revert the page two more times today after that there is nothing else I can do for the remainder of the day. It's is your capital, I will follow your wishes; so long as another user doesn't request it or the situation doesn't explode. -JCarriker 16:30, Jul 8, 2004 (UTC)

Hi, Knutux. I see that you're working on Wikipedia longer than I, so you might be able to answer my question. Maybe I'm not understanding something here. How come that in so many pages about Lithuania history we can find facts represented completely different than they are represented in Lithuanian books. Especially the names of places, people and institutions. Vilnius history page is a perfect example. Looking through those edits by people who seem to be clearly of polish origin, I start to wonder if poles are trying to distort the Lithunian history facts. It's like I'm reading about polish city, not lithuanian. Let me know: faustas[at]faustas[dot]com --Faustas 23:25, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Then I read English Wikipedia for a first time, I hade same impression on Lithuanian history articles - it seemed as history is written from Polish point of view. But after some discussions I have came to conclusion that Lithuanian point of view is most probably wrong (decorated, not impatial) - and we have no proof which point of view is more conform to real facts. My opinion now is that both Polish and Lithuanian views are not completely true and without real arguments there is no sense to try to fight current situation. About usage of non-official city names (to use those used in mentioned historical period) my oppinion is like yours - I'd like official name, but by common agreement a rule is made that historical names are used. And as until World War II Vilnius never had majority lithuanian inhabitants, Polish name is mostly used. But some articles are really one-sided and they need some Lithuanian touch (like Rossa cemetery-Rasų kapinės was some days ago). Knutux 06:09, 2004 Jul 11 (UTC)

Knutux, I was wondering, if you could do us all a favor and join the discussion about Gdańsk and Szczecin. I don't want to hold any article hostage, but I just would like to know your honest opinion about the naming convention for the cities mentioned above. Please take your time to read and analyze all the arguments ant discussions. I don't want you to feel pushed into any opinion. Thank you for your cooperation. SC

Hi! Could you briefly translate this article to Lithuanian, if it's able for you, of course. Thanks. User:Untifler 19:30, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Image copyrights[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Palanga.png. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, Edwin Stearns | Talk 18:58, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)

History of Vilnius[edit]

Labas. If you have some time, I'd like to invite you to take a look at User:Lysy/History_of_Vilnius page. This is a copy of the history section of the protected Vilnius page. I hope we could discuss its content there at User_talk:Lysy/History_of_Vilnius in order to have more NPOV article. I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but just for completeness: first discuss, then edit. Lysy 18:31, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)

List of Lithuanian rulers[edit]

I need more info on the pre-Mindaugas rulers at the Talk:List of Lithuanian rulers. Could you help? Halibutt 21:39, May 4, 2005 (UTC)

Lithuanian flag[edit]

Hi, I've nominated the image Image:Veliava vid.png, uploaded by you, for deletion because it's not used in any article and there is a better version available (Image:Lithuania flag large.png). I hope this is OK. –Mysid (talk) 07:33, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

Sure, that was one of first of my contributions and I don't even know why I needed such a flag, so of course it can be removed. Knutux 07:38, 2005 August 30 (UTC)

Kaliningrad Oblast[edit]

Please watch the article Kaliningrad Oblast as there is one person (user:Ghirlandajo) who does various changes without discussions and dismisses many arguements, even most supported ones (if they are against his Russian agenda), without explaining. He would want and did try to remove information about Lithuania Minor and such, and already removed some true information. Please watch the page so that wouldn't happen in future and valuable information would not be deleted from wikipedia.

bot on RU[edit]

Hi. Please slow down your bot on RU until you get a bot flag. Also, please create a user page for all the bots you have on all sites you have an account for. This will allow people to easily contact you. For example, see lt:user:YurikBot. Thanks! --Yurik

Would you take a look at talk:Partitions of Poland. We are discussing a possible change of the name of the article there and I believe that a Lithuanian perspective view would be helpful. --Lysy (talk) 10:21, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Central Lithuania[edit]

Knutux: I'm glad you wrote a Lithuanian version of Central Lithuania. Can you help me out? Please confirm whether the region is better called Vidurio Lietuva or Vidurinė Lietuva and what the difference is. I spoke with a Lithuanian about this but she wasn't familiar with the history of this specific "Central Lithuania." Can you also confirm the form "Vidurio Lietuvos Respublika"?

Also, if you know any of the historical details can you comment on this. Paul Magocsi's Historical Atlas of Central Europe (2nd, ed. 2002) says that General Żeligowski invaded almost to Kaunas but was pushed back to the line shown on the map (Image:Rzeczpospolita_Lithuania_claims.png). Magocsi says that CL was orginally larger than what the map shows (e.g., included Grodno/Gardinas and Lida/Lyda as well as areas north of Švenčionys). Do you know anything about this?

Thanks, User talk:LuiKhuntek; LuiKhuntek 08:41, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The version used in 1988 encyclopedy is "Vidurinė Lietuva" with no synonims given. I don't think the lithuanian use changed. The name of the country was created having in mind other parts of 1772 Lithuania in the east and west (East Lithuania and West Lithuania), so the name "Vidurinė" better reflects that fact than "Vidurio", but I'm not sure if that is the reason why this name is "better". And no, I don't have any facts about deeper invasion of Żeligowski into Lithuania, but in my source (same Soviet Lithuanian Encyclopedy, 1988) there is mentioning that "Vidurinė Lietuva" consisted of Vilnius region and parts of Western Bellorussia, but there is no map or more details. Knutux 10:42, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Not knowing Lithuanian, the grammatical difference between Vidurinė and Vidurio is lost on me. LuiKhuntek 07:03, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Now that is what I call an excellent map. Congrats! Keep it up, Knutux

Map requests[edit]

Dear Ponas Knutux: Seeing that you have contributed so many maps to the project, I wonder if I could trouble you for some more? A lot of the Lithuania:Geography stubs lack maps for places, as opposed to cities, which seem pretty mapped out. Maybe they were created in some automated or semi-automated way? If so, maybe you could share that process with one of us to continue creating more maps. Sincerely, Novickas 14:22, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Sveikas! Tadas12 15:50, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:FCToulon.svg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:FCToulon.svg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 18:16, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Alna (company)[edit]

The article Alna (company) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG and WP:CORP

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
