Okay, reasons for move:

  1. I'm pretty sure there wasn't any hyphen in the name in Fusion.
  2. The reason Metroid (video game species) has the disambiguation thing at the end is to distinguish it from Metroid and Metroid series. If anyone can come up with another use for "X Parasite," post it to this talk.

Okay with everyone? --Sparky the Seventh Chaos 23:47, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)

Video game species[edit]

The reason I added "(video game species)" is because x parasite sounds very generic, like it could be in any number of sci-fi stories. Whatever works.

Fair enough. I say we keep the article here, though, and if someone comes up with another fairly notable X Parasite, they're encouraged to add it. The article specifies from the get-go that we're talking about Metroid characters, after all. ^_^ Something like this was done at the Space Pirate article. --Sparky the Seventh Chaos 02:35, Nov 23, 2004 (UTC)

X as a name[edit]

Interesting that the X were named the X, because Nintendo sees the Xbox as a threat and hopes Metroid fanatics will absorb the Xbox to boost their skillz... wait a minute, I'm confusing video games with reality again. -- J. Anonymous Reader

Nature?[edit]

The Metroid Galaxy Guide says that the X we see are actually colonies of X parasites that are too tiny to see. Should this be added to the article?

Well, it's true that in the introduction sequence, we can see tiny X in the living tissue. I think you could.

Chozo[edit]

Where is it said that the Chozo created Metroids? (Admittedly, I don't know that much about the continuity outside the games, but it doesn't say the Chozo created Metroids in Metroid Fusion ...) --Yar Kramer 01:34, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Don't think it's in the game itself, but it is in the Fusion manual. --Sparky Lurkdragon 05:02, September 2, 2005 (UTC)
Metroid Fusion Manual, page 40: "While is has come to light in recent years that the Metroids were created by the ancient Chozo civilization, it is no common knowledge that they were created for the purpose of driving out the X parasites. At some point in the past, the X parasites, which posses a terrible propagation power, threatened to overwhelm the ecosystem of their home world SR388 with their vast numbers. Something was needed to check this impending disaster. That something came in the form of the Metroids." --220.237.67.125

Combination?[edit]

"The X are also capable of combining DNA from various hosts to create a new creature with the best abilities of the host forms."

Pardon my ignorance, but I can't seem to recall this happening, outside of what happened to SAX after it was defeated, and that hardly had ANY 'best' abilities.

Just that one instance proves it can happen, I would think. The SA-X's only unique attribute was the fact that she/they/it happened to copy Samus Aran - anything X-related she/they/it can do, other X can presumably do as well. But you're right that 'best' is kind of poor wording, so I changed that. --Sparky Lurkdragon 01:44, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What about the Space Pirate/Fish combination seen in sector AQA? I don't think it was an original host.

Why they're different[edit]

The X are a parasite aomeba right? SA-X are the smartest special elite.there are around 10 of them.There are MANY MANY OTHER X THAT AREN'T SA-X.Nuff said.--Vurtual Ruler98 03:13, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Basically true. So? --Herald Alberich 07:50, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SA-X section[edit]

Methinks this section needs a rewrite. It's got too many long, convoluted sentences, and has a need for consistent capitalisation. --220.237.67.125

I think its just fine. -ZeroTalk 16:18, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. It reads too much like a transcription of the cut-scenes in which the SA-X appears, and contains too much spurious information (do we really need to describe the Omega Metroid battle that thoroughly?) --220.237.67.125 12:50, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

clean up?[edit]

how can i help in cleaning up this article?--Lerdthenerd 07:04, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

no reference links![edit]

this article has no outside hyperlinks, or references to back up what has beeen written, without them how are we supposed to know what is or is not speculation.--Lerdthenerd 19:26, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
