DCI and DCA articles are back[edit]
Matt,
I greatly appreciate your contributions to the drum corps articles. I really believe, though, that DCI and DCA ought to have their own articles in addition to the drum and bugle corps (modern) article. So I brought them back to life. I'm doing this because I think the modern article is becoming too long, and there is information that is most appropriate in each organization's own article. My intent is for the DCI and DCA articles to be much shorter than the main article, and have little or no overlap of text.
I strongly encourage you to create separate articles for DCUK and DC Europe, also. Every organization deserves its own article discussing what aspects differentiate it from other organizations. I would love to know more about what makes the European organizations different than the ones in North America.
The article that I wrote for DCI covers a lot of technical aspects of the activity, which inherently are the main differences between the organizations. Those are the types of things that I think ought to be in each organization's respective articles. What I think should be in the main article is the stuff that's common among all modern corps... the show on the field. Unfortunately, we've really only scratched the surface in that respect.
I think we both tend to talk about the technical aspects of our activity. We need someone else's perspective here, someone with a bigger, non-technical picture. Hopefully, as time goes on, more than just a handful of people will contribute to these articles and they will become well-rounded. Or if I'm mistaken, if you feel you do have non-technical things to contribute (after all, we've mainly just tweaked the technical prose thus far), could we focus on that? That's where our energy should be focused now, I think.

Seek arbitration?[edit]

With Catherine's latest streak of vandalism on DCI/Drum Corps pages in general (check the histories), I was wondering if you and LazyTiger would be willing to seek arbitration in this issue. I'm of the opinion that Catherine thinks she can perpetuate biased views with impunity, and she'll continue a revert war as long as she can. Get back to me with your thoughts.

Have a look at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution for guidance. I'm not on the arbitration committee so I'm reluctant to stick my oar in, especially as I don't know much (or anything, in fact) about the subject.
