I'm on a life mission to help the world spin more efficiently. Therefore we will..embark on not one or 17; but 23!!~@ Semolina Pilchard originated from the Beatles song "I Am The Walrus". Many people have tried to find the true meaning behind this name, but it is actually quite simple. Semolina is a type of pudding that John Lennon was forced to eat as a child, and Pilchard is a type of sardine that was usually fed to cats. Semolina may also refer to seedless and usually high quality marijuana. (Actually I think you meant sensimilla {without seeds [SP]}. Nice try, though.)

Semolina Pilchard is the nickname that John Lennon gave to Detective Sergeant [Norman Pilcher] Head of Scotland Yard drugs squad unit.

I'm almost fearful to post this. It's all about how modern drugs cause mind expansion and creativity which Furthur progresses the evolution of mankind. OK, everyone knows of the story about how the "traditional Victorian" French did not approve of Eiffel's "modern" tower built for The Exposition Universally of 1889 which was a World's Fair held in Paris, France from 6 May to 31 October 1889. Now on to the meaning of Semolina Pilchard. Semolina Pilchard is code for the recipe of LSD. To make LSD one must combine lystricic acid with the alkaline diethylamide. Lysric acid is derived from ergot that grows on rye and Semolina and diethylamide is derived from Triethylamine( A fish byproduct ). Triethylamine is what makes fish smell fishy. So one takes the rot of Semolina and infuse it with the stench of pilchard and you now have LSD. I even had an old hippie make the correlation of Jesus at The sermon on the mount who gave out an endless supply of Bread & fish; but he was probably as crazy as the Spanish who named the native American cactus "San Pedro". sinsemilla is high quality marijuana made from unfertilized female plants. Semolina is a high quality(high fiber, adds texture) wheat flower.Also note that ergot is a fungus that only grows on rye flower and again semolina is a high quality wheat used mainly in pasta.

pilchard was not the officer's name and paul and brian were not arrested.

It's lysergic acid, not lystricic or lysric or any of the other misspellings. Diethylamine, which is used to produce LSD, is not derived from triethylamine, and simply mixing the acid with diethylamine will not produce LSD. One might convert the free acid to the acyl chloride by treating it with thionyl chloride. Reacting the acyl chloride with diethylamine would then produce the diethylamide. Please, if you don't understand chemistry, don't use chemical terminology and nomenclature.

The new book about Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones ("Brian Jones: The Making of the Rolling Stones" by Paul Trynka) details several arrests by officer Pilcher. Pilcher was later censured by British authorities for abusing power, false arrest and other offenses.
