Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rightard

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Dicdef, & not linked to from any other article. Also blatantly POV. -- llywrch 21:42, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete: Idiotic dictdef. Look, I'm about as left as you're going to find, but the charming world of juvenile slang is simply beneath notice. Geogre 00:44, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. Inherently POV slang neologism dictdef. Gwalla | Talk 01:01, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Comment: While I agree that in it's present form, it's a POV dictdef that should be deleted, I do think that Rightard, as well as the other article listed on VfD at the same time, Republinazi, points to a hole in in Wikipedia's coverage that needs to be filled: Political slang. There's a whole world of political slang usage going on out there, especially on the 'net, about which an article could very easily be written. This article makes some important points about why political slang terms like Rightard are used: 1) To annoy or anger one's political opponents, 2) To ingratiate the user among her own political peers. These points could very well form the nucleus of a broader article about politcal slang. If such an article were written, I'd advocate a merge and redirect. Kevyn 18:32, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)
    • Kevyn, it seems like you've got good ideas for a new article, there. You already know its structure. Why not give it a crack and try to make it more a discussion than a simple listing (to keep folks from wandering by and trying their hands at being creative)? Geogre 03:57, 3 Sep 2004 (UTC)
      • I would, but I am moving today, and will not have a computer or internet access for several weeks. I was hoping someone else would step up to bat for this, but I can't do it myself right now. See ya in a few weeks. Kevyn 04:00, 3 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, an obvious made-up POV! -- Crevaner 01:10, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, see previous listing. This one is offensive in more ways than Republinazi (not to say it's more offensive, though). Bishonen 11:18, 4 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. I like the idea of writing a Political slang article (Kevyn's comment above) though. Antandrus 20:56, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC)
  • If this term is in common use, I would redirect to List of pejorative political slogans WhisperToMe 05:16, 6 Sep 2004 (UTC)
