Speedy deletion nomination[edit]

Hi. I've replied to your speedy deletion nomination for A field guide to birds of Hawaii and the Tropical Pacific on the article's talk page. The book does meet our inclusion criteria in my opinion, for reasons given on the talk page. If you agree, could you remove your nomination? Thanks. If you need more evidence to convince you please let me know. SP-KP 17:19, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with a person vandalizing the Wikipedia page for Mogollon[edit]

Person is crosslinking the main page with a polticial identity movement page. Thanks in advance. MikeDiehl 19:57, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

can you please take away the speedy delete nomination, i uploaded something quick so no one would steal the indywood page, i am doing an article on The Indywood Project which has many articles written on it, and Indywood has been registered by AD LANE and is a worthy article, you can put indywood in most search engines and the INDYWOOD PROJECT would come up at the top of the search with many articles written about it.

Hey there, in response to your question, the article that this page was taken from is my own article i wrote as a press release of which i have full copywrite, (Fri Jan 19 2007) by me AD LANE

1

so hopefully that cant be an issue,

i can proove that there are articles on this subject, of which i will add to the article, if that helps proove it to have other sources, - 2 - 3 - 4 --

is there anything else i need to do or change? please help... cheers AD LANE Indywood 01:22, 29 January 2007

This is my first day on wikipedia, i would really like to understand how i can add things and have them accepted without the fear of deletion... I do believe that the article is worth including on wikipedia, and if you guys have a problem with it being a personal one, how about me submitting the BBC one? but doesnt that go against copywrite? or would you prefer a neutral source writing the article? for future reference? and i really did try to exclude anything that might be an advertisment, in fact i will have another run through and take out anything that can be classed as an advert... i really appreciate your help with this... INDYWOOD is top of all search engines, and we are getting tons of articles on the project, and so i still believe its a worthy addition to WIKIPEDIA... Indywood 01:55, 29 January 2007

I have removed anything that sounded like an advert, i have also removed my promotional thing on my own user page, so hopefully i am a few steps closer, and will not include any aticles by anyone else, but i am ok linking articles that go with what i am talking about, i think i am understanding more how this site works, so i really do appreciate your time in helping me, ... if you could remove the deletion tag, that would be muchly appreciated, how long does it take to be removed?.Indywood 02:04, 29 January 2007

Hi, i have checked out a few wikipedia pages, i can now see what neutral format your looking for, and was hoping that if your online tonite, if you could let me know if i am going in the right direction, and if its now worthy of having the deletion tag removed. Indywood 01:50, 30 January 2007

about the prod template..[edit]

you told me i but this template on many pages, but ive never heard of it, let alone put it on a page?! Use the force 20:49, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok, what? i'm sorry but what you just said makes no sense. what i'm saying is that don't use the proposed deletion template, instead use the template for speedy deletion for nonsense pages etc. most pages like that don't need to be discussed, they're mostly garbage.--Tainter 20:51, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dont you have any say on removing the delete tag? because yesterday you said you would - below is what you said.

i will remove the delete tag for now, but don't be suprised if it happens again. --Tainter 01:41, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

and yesterday the article was totally different and you was right it was too self promoting, i have now met with all your specifications, or i hope i have, and changed the layout to meet with the Wikipedia format, it would mean a lot to keep the term Indywood on Wikipedia, so if there is something that is still stopping you from removing the tag, could you please let me know what it is, and i will change it or add it.

best wishes Tony --indywood 02:15, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would advise you not to remove speedy deletion tags. it is considered vandalism. though i cannot find myself as an editor on the page. i would suggest looking at the following pages: Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, and Wikipedia:Manual of Style. i probably placed it because it does not fall under the guidlines of notability outlined in Wikipedia: Notability.--Tainter 02:54, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ceraurus[edit]

Actually, the article is well referenced. If you have problems with it, make suggestions on the talk page. Attaching tags for no obvious reason does nothing to help the article. Kitty's little helper 19:16, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you placed a prod on Chudleigh railway station. In general, notability does not expire (in other words, once notable, always notable), and railway stations are considered notable. On this basis, I removed the prod from the article. --Eastmain 23:10, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

so where is the notability?--Tainter 23:56, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All railway stations are notable, in the same way that all towns and cities are notable. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hengoed railway station, for example. --Eastmain 00:02, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nonetheless, I strongly disagree that essentially non-notable train stations should be on wikipedia. Precedent or not. Waste of spcae in my opinion.--Tainter 14:12, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Attack pages[edit]

Thanks so much for all of your great work on new page patrolling. Just a suggestion: when you come across a page that is defamatory, you may want to tag it with db-attack instead of db-bio or other tag. Attack pages tagged for speedy deletion are listed at Category:Attack pages for speedy deletion, which usually gets much faster attention from admins because of liability issues. Thanks again and keep it up! -- Satori Son 21:10, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Sometimes I just get hasty. I need to be more like Treebeard when it comes to speedy'ing. --Tainter 21:11, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Something you might like to know[edit]

I saw your user page was recently vandalized by User:MercuryMilan07 using IP User:24.211.252.124. User:MercuryLover05 is the same user. I had a dispute with that user recently (which ultimately resulted in his getting blocked for 3RR violation as well as myself), and I believe the Mercury Vehicles article he created was a result of that. If you have any thoughts on what to do, I'd like to hear. --Sable232 02:23, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Problem resolved[edit]

I noticed your problem report on the Administrators Noticeboard, and I've taken steps to resolve the issue. I have blocked the user responsible for the vandalism for 24 hours; I have also discovered and indefinitely blocked his sockpuppet via checkuser and given him an extra 48 hour block, as well as blocking the IP used for 48 hours. If you have any further problems with this type of vandalism, please feel free to report it on WP:AIV, and if you believe the same user is responsible, please feel free to raise the issue on my talk page and I will check into the matter. I have found no real instructions on how to simply tag and article for transwikification. the page that needs to be moved is Frindle (word)--Tainter 21:19, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Tainter. You can use Template:Copy to Wiktionary—it is listed at Wikipedia:Sister_projects. You'll need to add the following code to Frindle (word):
Copy to Wiktionary -or- dict
Hope this helps! —XhantarTalk 21:45, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!--Tainter 21:46, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's not a stub any more so I've removed the tag. Thank you for your corrections, could you rewiev it once more, please? (sorry for my poor English, I prefer writing for the German Wiki!) Maybe I can upload a photography of her (self-made), but I would like to ask Ms. Clausen first. --Schaufi 12:06, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Make sure you you check out Wikipedia:Images before you get a picture but I'm sure you're expeirenced enough to know, but just in case. --Tainter 17:40, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I took the picture last year. But I would like to ask her anyway, if it is all right for her (I didn't say it could be for Wikipedia, it is only a private photo!). --Schaufi 19:36, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well if you took it then you decide whether you want to post it or not. there are a lot of options to choose from check out the images link above. there are different lisences you can use etc. good luck. --Tainter 20:18, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen you've marked the page as being written under a non-neutran point of view. I'm new on wikipedia, so I'd be very grateful if you could give me some kind of advice on how to write it. I don't know really what is "non-neutral point of view". This project is something similar to sourceforge, but instead of being aimed to individuals, its more aimed to companies which develop open-source software and could, in some way, take some advantages from developments by other members of the community.Chusete 18:30, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I think SQLAlchemy is notable; I have put a justification on the talk page. If you agree, can you please remove the tag. Thanks, Paj28 12:06, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SketchUp Tools[edit]

I believe you put the proposed deletion template on SketchUp Tools, the reason it says is: "Already exists as SketchUp. redundant article." I would just like to know where in SketchUp does it say anything about the tools used to create, edit, view, and do lots more? When I read the article, I noticed that it did not, so that is why I decided to create SketchUp Tools. OrinLincoln | TalkContributions 01:57, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out. Now I see that the article also qualifies for WP:NOT#Wikipedia_is_not_an_indiscriminate_collection_of_information #4.--Tainter 02:00, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Although SketchUp Tools does provide information on how to work SketchUp, the sole purpose of it is to describe the tools used in SketchUp. It is not ment to be an instruction manual but a page for people to get information on the tools used in a three deminsional designing software. Other articles have information on products and the correct use of them, why should SketchUp be so different. Thank you. OrinLincoln | TalkContributions 02:16, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The add it to the SketchUp Tools article. This article so far has no context and is most certainly an indicriminate collection of information.--Tainter 02:18, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. Add what to the SketchUp Tools article. Are you saying I should put SketchUp Tools into the SketchUp article? I would be fine with that. OrinLincoln | TalkContributions 02:24, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, add a section. I'm beyond caring at this point, I just don't believe wikipedia should be full of a bunch of articles that could easily be a part of another or have no buisiness existing at all. --Tainter 02:26, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged it because I question the notability of the subject. That should be quite obvious. This person has not done anything particulary special. Pretty simple.--Tainter 00:28, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking that. Probably because I'm lazy. Non-copyvio stuff should be kept if possible. Things like air dates and actor lists should be retained. I'll start with the oldest ones if you wnt to do the new ones. Deal?--Tainter 01:39, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Saw your comment a bit late. The sentence means that the president of the Council had to resign because of the demonstrations of the far-right leagues. It was the first time since 1871 that street movements (or extra-parliamentarist movements) managed to short-cut the legal process and force someone out. I don't know if it's clearer? What better translation do you suggest? Cheers!Tazmaniacs 01:23, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Northern Dragons[edit]

Why did you delete links from the Northern Dragons entry? You removed a lot of information and made a lot of the article not make any sense. Don't do that.

Kenny Rogers[edit]

I don't think I deleted anything important. All those hits were included in the singles charts for Rogers' article. There was no need to keep the singles there, listed. Dottiewest1fan 18:41, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The issue here, which you have overlooked, is that you removed a vast amount of content without prior discussion on the talk page. It would have made more sense to create a discussion and the probably making a Kenny Rogers singles page seperate from the main article. I myself have no time for that but if you could I think that would be great, then the article would be much less crowded. --Tainter 16:01, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the offer, but I have no time either, I am busy working on fixing up Dottie West's article. I just happened to stop by this article while making my rounds through West's article. Dottiewest1fan 01:27, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Highlowand.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Highlowand.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 00:00, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

well, it's an album cover. they are covered by fair use. If you looked at the fair use requirements you would have seen that. But instead you had it deleted. Go try and delete Sgt. Peppers or something. See how that goes over. ~~

Fair use disputed for Image:Hlaib1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hlaib1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:32, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Tarset[edit]

An editor has nominated Tarset, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tarset and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 16:16, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:14, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Virgin Mountains-Paiute Wilderness.JPG[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Virgin Mountains-Paiute Wilderness.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking some of the pages you've reviewed as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project. Illinois2011 (talk) 05:37, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Quoffee & Bullets[edit]

Hello Tainter. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Quoffee & Bullets to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. "Notability" is not a speedy reason - see WP:CSD#Non-criteria - and WP:CSD#A7 no indication of importance or significance does not apply to films. If you are going to do New Page Patrol - which is a very good and valuable activity - you need to read WP:CSD carefully; if you can't find an appropriate speedy in the list, it probably means the page is not speediable, and you will have to consider PROD or AfD. There is good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. regards, JohnCD (talk) 12:10, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:FeastOftheHuntersMoonCover.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:FeastOftheHuntersMoonCover.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:06, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for the lengthy delay in response to removing merge proposal as I was travelling and not easily reachable. With the expansion, I agree the article now fits within the boundaries.

New Page Triage engagement strategy released[edit]

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:11, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 16[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited J D Davies (historian and author), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Restoration (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

OasisAmerican Culture Area and the Mogollon Culture Area[edit]

I propose to remove the linkage between the Mogollon Culture Area article and the "OasisAmerican Culture" wikipedia page. No one in Southwestern Archaeology uses or seems to have heard of the "OasisAmerican Culture." Indeed, the only place that term seems to be used is on its own Wikipedia page. It seems to be a geopolitical term related to nationalism and the Azatlan movement. If you concur, I may need your help in case someone tries to revert the page. I propose to cull that term out of the Mogollon Article on 5 November unless someone can make a compelling objection. Thanks in advance. Mike Diehl (talk) 21:02, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
