Em... sorry for 'vandalising' an info. However, i was simply putting in some humour that would've been dismissed quite lightly.

Hi. No lunar flag just yet - the Moon Society just closed off a two-year contest and hasn't released any designs yet. Even after that, there are still things which need to be done to make it even semi-official.

The Mars flag is not, AFAIK, a legally official flag (I think you kind of have to have people on Mars first, or some other foolish thing). However, it is official in that it has the approval of both the Planetary Society and the Mars Society, flew aboard the last Discovery mission in 1999, and flew over the Mars Arctic Research Station during its last season of operation. I'll have more on the image page.

Your sig is made up of two links to user and one link to talk. I get that. But when I see your sig, it is followed by a time/date stamp. I am trying something similar. It looks like this:

Hey, no prob. The main problem with Wikipedia:Votes for deletion is it's so damn slow. I found that in the time I managed to return the topic you removed, I had removed an entry that someone else put in a minute before. Maybe they should have a seperate page for every day. • I know about one word of written Japanese (の is apparently "no" and means "of", at least in some contexts) and I'm sure that you're better at all this than me... I have little or no clue what I'm doing and welcome help :)
• さばくのきつね is supposedly something like "fox of the desert", although perhaps it's out of order and " はきつねのさばく" would be more appropriate (am I saying "desert of the fox"? O_o)
• I get all my Japanese character stuff out of a little app in KDE called... called... darn, I forget, and I'm on my Windows partition at the moment (due to wireless driver reasons).

On a completely unrelated note, are you active on the m:IRC channels by any chance?

It was not available when I tried to access it. In addition, it appears to be a lightly strung together site on an educational server with no HTML. It is a series of xml pages with no apparant organization and the server home page is the default apache home page that appears when you first install apache. on your comment that the web site appears lightly strung together. seems pretty robust to me (frames suck of course). sometimes it seems like Wikipedia is lightly strung together, too, but that's okay (I'm not sure what you got against "educational" servers). XML pages--- what? Looks like Content-type: text/html to me. The fact that this NYU library is using XML to catalog their collections shouldn't shine poorly on them. It appears they're using the Apache Tomcat server to do all their XML work. Who cares about apache home pages? There is a home page for the collection, it's just on another server. it seemed that having a link to the personal paper's of this biographical entry was relevant. maybe not. but why not give a pseudo-reference (remember Wikipedia:Cite sources) to the sourcce of much of the article's material.

While I still feel you were overbearing w Svigor (who may or may not be a returned user or sockpuppet, I understand that) I can see where I came off too strongly. I don't mean to be rude to you, a user who I have a generally good impression of. That said, I was harassed early apon coming to the wiki, and accused of being a returned hardbanned user (EoT/142 specifically) and so am particularly sensitive for others (rightly or wrongly) accused thusly. I also find there to be an overall spirit of deletionism on the wiki, which I am opposed to. I want crazies to be able to provide verification and citation. I want links to a variety of sources. The continue sentance says that I was doing the previous part, which was vandalizing articles. I don't think I was vandalizing articles. I thought the blog article was interesting and so I linked it. Why was that vandalism?

Request for Information About Submission Policy

Texture: I'm new to Wikipedia, but if I correctly understand what I'm seeing, you removed the link I added in Internet Trolls because it references an article I've written. Well, I can understand the need for such vigilance, but if you search Google for "Internet Trolls" (or even just "Trolls") it's the first article that appears. Did you remove the link because it links to a page I own?

I'm trying to understand Wikipedia policy, here. Obviously people can't link to every wacky page they set up. Must a link be entered by somebody other than the author? If so, isn't that like trying to compile an encyclopedia only by consulting people who aren't doing research in a particular field?

As community policy, it is not generally accepted that any user should add his own web pages. It is considered vanity or an advertisement for their page. (No accusations against you but I agree with the policy to avoid all of us, including me, adding our own web pages.) In addition, it is inadvisable to add user home pages (from AOL and such) that are not considered authority sites and can be down or changed without warning. - Tεxτurε 17:53, 11 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

Hi Texture. I'm no fan of nonsense, but I wonder from the deletion log whether you've been a bit quick in one of your deletions. 29a seems to be a real group - see [1]. It's no big deal - I'm not going to bother listing it on votes for undeletion. I just wondered what your reason was for getting rid of it. It appeared to be unsupported nonsense (not the name of the group, but the claim). Here is the content for you to evaluate for yourself. If you believe is isn't nonsense I have no objection to listing it for undeletion. (Always better to have more people review a questionable deletion.):

Deleted Link

You deleted a link I recently started and accused me of creating a link to "advertise my website". Not only do I have no part in that website (outside of the community), but my intentions were not to simply 'get more hits'. I found it interesting that there were large and informative links for other websites/communities, such as GameFAQs and even Starmen.net. I understand now why it was deleted, the policy makes sense. It seems this area is largely contraversial, and a line has to be drawn somewhere. Interestingly, that line appears to be drawn at Starmen.net, and I have to agree that my article in question went beyond that line. About reverting

Thank you. I inserted that punctuation and "claimed for reverting" because when i read the page, it did not show the page text, but the vandalism. Dont know if the cause is some sort of cache of anything, i just did the only good thing i could think (not saying it was the best): re-reverting the page. Please learn how to behave here

You may revere Reagan, but please do not remove facts you are in denial of, or add your own viewpoint to the article. The so-called "economic prosperity" of the 1980's certainly helped the wealthy, but it is dubious at best that it helped anyone else. The only such arguments I have heard are rife with the typical Republican denial of actual experience and facts. In any case, wording such as "at least for the wealthy" leaves open the possibility that it helped others too. Learn to read more carefully.

Furthermore, your other edits of my text are merely removal of facts that you don't like. You seem to want a sanitized history of Reagan, but such denial and dishonesty is counter to the values of a society with a free press. (Unfortunately, this is certainly in character of Republicans, and Reagan in particular-- he continually made up booksful of fake statistics, anecdotes, and "facts" to support his errant positions. So much for the "Great Communicator".)

You are apparently a new user, since you don't seem to know what "vandalism" is. You might educate yourself at this page. You are further in violation of the standards of behavior here, by dishonestly marking some of your edits as "minor"-- go read some guidelines.

Maybe it's best if you just read articles for a while and learn how Wikipedia is supposed to work, before you mess things up too much. You yourself might try using the sandbox while you learn.

Are you on a wireless network? Someone could be using your network connection. (Although the probability of them also making edits on Wikipedia would be small.) Were you logged off during the suspicious edits? Hi there. I note that you coincidentally deleted what was then a blank entry on Jim Stynes just as I was writing an article on him (I found his name on the "orphaned articles" list). I just registered yesterday. I've only edited a couple articles: I added a paragraph to "dobro" because I felt the article was leaving a lot out, I added a couple sentences to "Bedford, Indiana" (my hometown), and posted on the "Discussion" part of SR-388 asking if Wikipedia really needed entries about Metroid planets. Hello, you know me from votes for deletion on one of my articles. The book you are reading is very good read, I especially like the story about the head of a large company that died and cannot be brought back to life using a standard technique.

The 'god' wiki article

Hi,

I am new to editing on wikipedia (infact I'm not currently registered, although I'll change that soon), and recently added a few changes to the 'god' article here. With such an obviously contentious issue it is probably best to be very open and honest from the outset. I am an atheist, and having looked at the page, I was a little dissapointed with the lack of any real references to atheism or alternatives to belief in some form of deity. As you can see from looking at the history of the page, I added a small amount about atheism (I thought not written in an aggressive style and fully within line with the rest of the article), and added a few qualifications to other areas and changed small amounts of grammar. I think what I did promoted the objectivity of the article rather than forced my particular viewpoint, or 'vandalised' in any way. I was therefore very dissapointed to see that you have withdrawn all the changes I made on the article. I am being completely honest and open about my atheism, and I would appeal to yourself and anybody else within the wikipedia community to have a look at the changes I made. I honestly do not think they appeared in any way dogmatic, and were simply an attempt to redress the balance a little and to present another alternative viewpoint.

Welcome, Paul. What I saw last night appeared to be vandalism and advertisement for a website. The first few words were replaced with "follooun", which set my thoughts to vandalism. The changes made seems so anti-god and anti-religion that it appeared to be a vandalism of the article or an attempt to be so out there as to get people to visit your web site. Other anon edits before and after the one's I reversed also seemed to be anti-god vandalism. I may be wrong on what you are attempting to do with the article. If I am, I apologize. However, before you create a large addition of atheist/anti-god/anti-religious text in the article on god, may I suggest you discuss it on the Talk:God discussion page? I'm really not quite sure what your vendetta against my page is about, but perhaps you should take a moment and realize that this page was initially added by someone at a military installation. Moreover, the linked page itself has nothing to do with me, and is both a pro and a con discussion about Reagan.
