a bit of detail on why i've removed "severe drought" from the Environment Issues section: while there were some localised unusual droughts in a couple of areas in 1997 and in 2001 (parts of the Highlands and New Ireland), in general drought is very rare in PNG. i would argue that it is not regarded as a significant environmental issue in the country, in comparison with the major threats posed by forestry, agricultural clearance, and mining. 12:09, 19 December 2003 Wantok

Complete rewrite[edit]

I'm planning a complete rewrite of this page - turning the CIA data into readable prose, wikify, lots of expansion, finding useful images. Time permitting, this should happen over the next few days.

Length[edit]
