Errata / WW I[edit]

Koegel's WW I service storyline contains errata (or rather falsifications, notorious for Nazi Party officials, interested in fatten up and dramatize their war service record): first, he joined bavarian army in 1914, 1. Schweres Reiter Regiment in Munich, and stayed with this cavalry outfit for the first year of the war, then in 1915/16 he changed to Jägertruppe and later was with 2. and 1. Bavarian Infantry Regiments. That he was wounded more than two times seems questionable, otherwise he would very likely be rewarded with Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber (2nd class of that decoration; in fact he got the 3rd class, Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz). Finally, he was never promoted, not even to Gefreiter, and stayed without rank for the whole war (see: Official service certificate, issued May 27, 1937, in: Wartime military roster, Kriegsstammrolle No. 4451 - Königlich Bayerisches 2. Infanterie-Regiment, I. Ersatzbataillon, 6. Kompagnie - picture 294, at ancestry.com, revised May 2, 2019). --129.187.244.19 (talk) 07:23, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
