I used the nice image attached to Prefectures of Japan rather than this because the latter is much bigger and too busy. --Phil | Talk 14:24, Feb 25, 2005 (UTC)

kunrei spelling[edit]

I noticed that Oita has been macronified to Ōita; but, if we intend to hold to the kunrei shiki standard that is mentioned, then shouldn't it have the circumflex? I won't pretend to like circumflexes at all, so maybe a better solution is to remove that sentence and just spell everything the way our WP:MOS-JA tells us to. Since kunrei is an ISO standard, then there is some room for debate on what is best for this article. Opinions? Neier 12:38, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably best to pipe Ōita to Ôita. I just updated the link to Hokkaidō and the Kunrei to Hokkaidô. Bendono 13:44, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I put the circumflexes everywhere they should be (even Tokyo and Osaka), and also changed the ○×Prefecture links to be piped from the kunrei spelling in all cases. Having it split between kunrei and hepburn for the links seemed ugly (not as ugly as the circumflexes; but, I digress)... Neier 02:46, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
