Just signing my work now that I have an ID. For the record, no I'm not an expert in the subject, my article should be considered just a little more than a stub. Created it after clicking on a "page does not exist" yet link

Shark oil?

hope this clears it up changed the sentence struture, now more clearly says shark liver oil (and wikified!) -LittleBrother 18 November 205 UTC 06:13

I'm also not an expert on the subject, but I am writing a paper for graduate school. A more prolific Wikipedia user told me not to "waste it", so I've included part of my rough draft on the etiology of diaper rash. Just as an aside - I removed the reference to "ammoniacal diaper rash" because all of my references seem to agree that ammonia is not a major cause of diaper rash, as was once thought, and therefore the name is misleading.

I am not comfortable actually editing your article, but I have an issue with one of your references: 12^ "Patient information: Diaper rash in infants and children". UpToDate Marketing. http://www.uptodate.com/patients/content/topic.do?topicKey=~xrAHHNqmCOJqF1t.

I suspect that there are political and economic drivers behind the recommendation that disposable diapers be used during diaper rash. It makes much more sense to suggest a BREATHABLE diaper to prevent as well as cure diaper rash. Please take a more detailed look at the difference between natural fibers such as cotton with a breathable cover such as wool compared to plastic covered, bleached and fragranced wood pulp full of super absorbent sodium polyacrylate gel.

Here are some references, found at http://www.realdiaperassociation.org/real-diaper-news/quarterly_article_mullen_diaper-rash-comparing-diaper-choices.htm, which you may want to consider: Boiko, S. 1997. Diapers and diaper rashes. February 1, 1997. Dermatology Nursing. Shin, H.T. 2005. Diaper dermatitis that does not quit. Dermatologic Therapy, 18: 124-135. Weiner, F. 1979. The relationship of diapers to diaper rashes in the one-month-old infant. The Journal of Pediatrics, 95: 422-424. Stein, H. 1982. Incidence of diaper rash when using cloth and disposable diapers The Journal of Pediatrics, 101: 721-723.

I agree with their statement that "we need a new study on diaper rash that is independent of disposable diaper manufacturers" that also takes into account the other contributing factors such as frequency of diaper change.

Thanks for your consideration. Daveandkarlene (talk) 21:16, 4 January 2011 (UTC)daveandkarlene[reply]

Pain?[edit]

I noticed this article doesn't mention how painful the rash is to infants. Think your baby has colic NOW?... -Kingoomieiii (talk) 12:25, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
