Not really about "theory"[edit]

This article is about marxist film, not about theoretical engagements with film from a marxist point of view. That is, the article is about "marxist film" theory, when it should be about "marxist theory" of film.

Would be good to eliminate or start from scratch. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.105.153.25 (talk) 22:56, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Off-site plagiarism of this article[edit]

It's come to my attention that parts of this article have been plagiarised by a YouTube video essayist, specifically paragraphs 1 and 3 of the overview. This is rather concerning, not only because of the plagiarism involved, but because the parts being plagiarised didn't cite any sources for the information. In fact, most of this article is unsourced and the only source provided for the lead failed verification, never actually discussing "Marxist film theory". If anyone comes across this and is interested in learning about Marxist film theory from people with expertise on the matter - or if you're interested in improving this article - I can recommend the book Marxist Film Theory and Fight Club by Anne Kornbluh and the journal article "Marxism, Film and Theory: From the Barricades to Postmodernism" by Scott Forsyth. For now, I'll build a bibliography at the bottom of the article with these two works, just so we can direct interested readers to reliable sources. -- Grnrchst (talk) 15:16, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
