Why does {{Mathematician-stub}} have a picture of Michelangelo's David? I don't understand the connection. --Tabor 01:03, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed it to one of Pythagoras. It's not ideal, but I think it'll do for the moment. --Valentinian 15:31, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The Pythagoras image was too hard to make out. I took a detail from a painting of Newton and played around with it a little in ImageMagick to see if I could get something that worked; my attempt is in place.
But to be honest I prefer the David, which is certainly easier to make out than my best effort on Newton. The historical inaccuracy is not the point; the David image to me just said "vaguely classical thinker image", it was easy to see, and it made it easy to see the stub notice (I don't like stub notices with no image as they sort of fade into the article text). The fact that the person depicted wasn't a mathematician was probably an advantage, as that way we don't have to argue over our favorites. --Trovatore 16:43, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
