Removing these items from the list of edgeplay:

use of alcohol or drugs (e.g. ecstasy, amyl nitrite)
legal issues

on the grounds that using alcohol or drugs is not edgeplay. Just because it's unsafe doesn't make it edgeplay. And What does "legal issues" mean in this context? --David Merrill 03:13, 12 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Authenticity check: A search reveals that the phrase "regarded by many" appears in the text. Is the phrase a symptom of a dubious statement? Could a source be quoted instead? Perhaps the "many" could be identified? Might text be edited to more genuinely reflect specific facts?

"regarded by many" might be considered more POV than what is revealed by what those who study the issue come to a conclusion. If it is part of a quote by an authority on the subject then it should stand but if just a mere statement then that phrase in any article should be avoided primarily because it does not have much of a "life" accuracy beyond the instant it is written since things can change.76.170.88.72 (talk) 03:28, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have heard "Edge Play," or "Edgeplay," in reference to S&M play conducted without a "safe word," but I don't have a cite. Has anyone else observed this usage? --ejstheman

I believe this bit is a direct quote from a book. "What constitutes edgeplay varies with the persons involved, and also over time. In the mid-nineties, the Living in Leather convention did not have panels on ageplay or scat because they were considered too edgy. By 2000 they were part of the regular list programming."
