I don't know if they'd pull a "Darrin" - after all Dick York wasn't dead when they replaced him with Dick Sargent - i fear the death of John Ritter means the death of "Eight Simple Rules..." PMelvilleAustin

They could get away replacing Dick York with Dick Sargeant because the series focus was on Elizabeth Montgomery. If Montgomery had died, Bewitched would have sunk. PMelvilleAustin is probably correct. Since Ritter is the star of that series, I don't see it doing very well with a replacement.

As a couter argument, there've been seven(?) James Bonds but only one Q.

True but James Bond isn't the same as a television comedy series like Bewitched or Eight Simple Rules - it's not on every week with the same circumstances, same set and the same in-laws to deal with. Then again James Bond fans believe that Sean Connery was the best Bond and the others are merely repeating a franchise he set in earlier films.

Nonsence. Roger Moore was the best Bond! Connery was a warm up man at best!

Show continued after his death

According to Fox News, 8 Simple Rules will go on. ABC is to air the final three John Ritter episodes, then go into reruns. It is rumored that the show will take on an ensambble feel with Katey Sagal at front and Henry Winkler stepping in as an uncle.

Again, check the meaning of the word "ironic". This word is misused more often than any other English word, especially by journalists and sportscasters. "ironic" is not synonymous with "coincidence". It refers to an instance where something occurs that is the opposite of what is intended to or expected to occur. For instance, let's say someone starts using the nicotine patch to help them quit smoking (thus prolonging their life). If the person develops an allergic reaction to the patch and dies from it, THAT would be irony. Two people who are related and have the same birthday is not an example of irony. I did hear that somewhere, in an interview somewhere. I don't think it was he who said it, it was someone talking about veterans in hollywood and Ritter was cited as being a Vietnam veteran. Like a lot of veterans of that war, there were many whom did not want to talk about it or acknowledge it, so unless his estate provides something more substantial regarding this, I think we should not cite it without a REALLY good source. Connections to others death

Ok so my main cause for complaint in this was the use of the word "interestingly" as this was drawing an un-sourced conclusion. But in reality John Cash dying and being connected to John Ritter just because his dad once worked with him is frankly a stretch and does nothing to add to this article. Avoiding edit/revert wars per Tex Ritter vs Johnny Cash

I think the previous editor claiming Cash covered or sang songs written by Tex Ritter got their info from "sources" (sites) such as these examples, although they both clearly appeared and performed on shows together as per the Youtube video included on my recent edit summary (and there is a possibility they both sang each others songs or even contributed to writing credits):

So there isn't a connection between John Ritter and John Cash other then his father? Why do we have to mention it in John Ritter's article again? I am not questioning the link of Tex and John Cash, just the connection of John R and John C. which I can see from above you have no way of showing. Those are not my sources defending the statement. Again, I'm "saying" those may be where whoever typed that entry is getting their info, but I'm only speculating. I never said you "abused" or "attacked" me. I'm aware of those and other policies. However, I don't showboat what I know, instead I actually 'walk the talk'. But you need to also assume good faith and not violate the unspoken "don't be a dick" rule. You're not worth returning here for, I just thought I'd leave it at that. I won't be back to read anything sassy you may have to say (you'll be typing to yourself)... I only expand and fix contributions on Wiki including this article (which I had plans of expanding the intro/lead more eventually)... I don't intentionally cause edit wars and/or problems. I try to find solutions. 'Interestingly' was changed from 'Ironically', but neither really need to be present. Nonetheless, the connection was supposed to tie in the fact that Ritter and Cash died between a short period of time from each other. Otherwise the statement makes no sense. But I couldn't care less if it is there or not, I'm not trying to be right like you. My issue is people like you who don't follow policy. You should have left the statement and discussed it on the talk page first. You're why there are problems on Wiki and "newbies" or "IPs" get warned/blocked. I don't believe I ever made a reference to you being an IP, I don't care who's editing whether it's an Anon, Arb member or indeed the US President. I'd like to point out WP:DICK is an essay (not policy) and to also point out to violate 3:RR you have to revert more then three times which if you do the count I didn't and neither did you. I think you have a slight issue with understanding the policies which is what I was pointing out. I referenced NPA for "Regardless, your toxic/negative/abusive attitude (remarks)". I referenced WP:AGF because it's quite apparent from your comments here that you could use it. You've attacked my personal character quite a few times in your diatribes, whereas I have made zero about you, your edit habits or being an IP. I'm sorry if you chose to see this in an attacking light but if you reread it there is absolutely zero in there other then a what my issue was and asking you questions to further explain the rationale. I don't go to talkpages in cases like this because it's a non controversial edit. It's an edit grounded in policy, the fact that John Cash and Tex Ritter are connected should be mentioned on their pages. John Ritter only has a coincidental connection via his father. Remember Wikipedia is not a random collection of facts or trivia. Hi. Not trying to splice hairs here, but he is repeatedly referred to as a comedian on this page, and nothing in the article, except for the Knotts quote, reflects that he in fact was a professional comedian. Was he a 'comedic actor'? I think this is an important distinction- they are 2 different careers. This was not stated in the cited source (now dead link, archived here). Looking around further, I can find no secondary coverage of a Lawrence Wells in relation to Ritter. The only mention of him is in a apparent scan of the malpractice complaint that names him, as well as 2 other ER docs as having cared for him. While Wells may have settled with Yasbeck, as could be alluded to here, there is no "both sides agreeing" to this being Wells' fault. It also appears that the x-ray was ordered but never obtained, not to mention that a x-ray is not a great test for dissection in the first place. Cannolis (talk) 14:08, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
