Psychoville?[edit]

What precisely did Landis do on the tv show Psychoville? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.148.135.117 (talk) 02:24, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

pictures needed[edit]

Hi! I think that this article about John Landis need some pictures, shows Landis at work (for ex. Landis as SAVAK or Schlock) or pics from American Werewolf showing Baker with Landis at work, or Jackson with Landis from Thriller, pics showing When in Hollywood, Visit Universal Studios. Ask for Babs . It may be also pics from set or shots from his work, Landis with Emmy Award. Please help, couse I'm not good in uploading pics etc. We should make this page as good as articles about Kubrick on Wiki. Thanks!

organization[edit]

Could this be organized by topic? Perhaps get a little narrative going before the story about the helicopter accident, and have a couple separate topics? --172.196.129.100 01:33, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

NPOV[edit]

I dare someone to tell me this isn't a PR blurb: "...his episode of Masters of Horror, 'Deer Woman' (written by his son, Max Landis) is a throwback to the giddy silliness that brought Landis so much acclaim in the early portion of his career, while his documentary "Slasher" is both funny and moving." 72.147.108.21 03:16, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spiderman 2[edit]

I am going to delete the referrence to John Landis directing Spiderman 2 when it was of course Sam Raimi who directed that film.

Twilight Zone passage requires some balance[edit]

Just because a jury rendered a "Not Guilty" verdict doesn't mean John Landis was a mere scapegoat. It means that the legal system (with all its flaws) didn't convict him. If you believe he is just a scapegoat, then OJ and Michael Jackson were innocent scapegoats as well, and the corresponding Wiki entries should thus also be altered to reflect subjective finding.

After reading the referenced webpages it appears that, indeed, this passage is too lenient on Landis...

Landis is an absolute hack and the horseshoe embedded in his colon remained in place during his criminal trial. This article seems to have been typed by his publicist

Crushed or Decapitated?[edit]

Crushed or Decapitated?

John Landis Page: "During the filming of Twilight Zone, actor Vic Morrow was decapitated..."

Vic Morrow Page: "A helicopter being used on the set spun out of control and crashed, crushing him and both of the children, and severing Morrow's arm with its rotor blades" —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.129.196.88 (talk) 16:29, 4 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

According to the coroner's report the main blades of the helicopter decapitated morrow across his neck and shoulder. According to crew reports, they put his torso on the bank of the river and his head in a bag. 68.145.83.143 (talk) 06:10, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Did Rotten Tomoatoes exist 1994[edit]

I removed this line Beverly Hills Cop III, directed by Landis in 1994, scored a mere 9% positive rating at the Rotten Tomatoes website. because the paragraph is talking about his slump in the 90's not today. A source from the 1994 or 1995 should be given to illustrate the point of how disliked the movie was back then to the 1994 audiences. There are situations when something is adored at the time but abhorred now, or vice versa (i.e gaining cult status) --Witchinghour 23:52, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why did his daughters file for a lawsuit?[edit]

That part isn't made very clear. It wouldn't make sense for them to sue their own father, which is how the sentence seems to come off to me. Does it mean that they sued those that were supposedly making him a scapegoat?

ALso i've read the Carrie got more money from Jennifer in the will. Is that true?

Under the "Animal House" section, I corrected the reference in parentheses. It Originally read the "car that "Flounder" Dorfman borrowed". That car was actually a 1964 Lincoln Continental borrowed from his brother, which is later transformed into the "deathmobile". The mayor of Faber, however, owned an Olds dealership and I added a comment stating that.

Also, the title of that section read "Oldsmoblie/car crashes" but there are no mentions of car crashes in the body. Should that be corrected as well? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.155.200.92 (talk) 16:41, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Update needed[edit]

Will someone who worked on this article (and know more about him than I do) please update it to reflect that he died last year? Bob Caldwell CSL (talk) 02:27, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Are you confusing him with John Hughes? Rob Sinden (talk) 12:09, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I did confuse them. I am an idiot. I told you someone who knows more than I needed to get involved. lol Bob Caldwell CSL (talk) 16:34, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Editing Needed?[edit]

In the section - 'Significant collaborations' under 'Cast' - 'With Frank OZ' there is a quote - 'Whenever he needs a prick, he asks for me. "I need a prick. Get me Frank Oz". He just wants some uplight prick and he immediately thinks of me'.

Should that be 'uptight' instead of 'uplight'?

It's a quote from a book - 'John Landis' by Giulia D'Agnolo Vallan. I don't have a copy and didn't want to change it in case the quote is as stated. Could anyone who has access to a copy do the edit? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coltswood (talkcontribs) 17:33, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Religion isn't included in the article at the minute, but if a debate does arise in the future then I listened to an interview today and he said he was an atheist.--EchetusXe 19:18, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Burke and Hare no longer future[edit]

I don't have time to do it right now, but the "Burke and Hare" section needs changing to past tense. - User:streapadair, 16:03, 29 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.19.238.82 (talk) [reply]

I've removed the section, and put anything relevant on the article page. Rob Sinden (talk) 16:15, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Add Production Credits or Update/Remove Mention of Some Guy Who Kills People[edit]

Firstly, I noticed that Some Guy Who Kills People has already been released, so it is no longer upcoming. But it is a film that Landis produced, and the page doesn't have a listing for his career as producer. Should this entry be removed, or should a whole new section be added that lists his credits as executive/producer (much like Steven_Spielberg#Production_credits)? addesso (talk) 12:27, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Style and techniques"[edit]

This multi-part section is excessively detailed, far out of proportion in length, and above all appears to consist almost entirely of an editor or editors' original research. I've tagged accordingly and will delete this entirely if it can't be sourced. Even if it can, it needs to be reduced in size. Coretheapple (talk) 19:10, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really care if you remove this section. But if there already is a original research tag on the section, it doesn't need one at the top of the article. Garion96 (talk) 05:10, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. I've removed that section as well as a ridiculously overlong, fansite-like section on Landis's collaborators, which consisted almost entirely of original research. Coretheapple (talk) 13:24, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 05:12, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ethnic background[edit]

it is ridiculous how the term "jewish" has been lifted up to the level of ethnic identification, however, what is his ethnic background by non religious terms but by origin of his ancestors in europe? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:72:6E21:D808:D8DE:6379:F342:21DA (talk) 21:48, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unsurprisingly, this hasn't been given a response, but I figure someone should verbalize that Jewishness absolutely is at the level of ethnic identification. Beyond that aspect of his identity, I don't know his additional ethnicity. YouCanDoBetter (talk) 05:57, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 18 June 2019[edit]

The line reading "Landis was then hired to directed The Kentucky Fried Movie" has a typo, the word "directed" should be changed to "direct" 2601:601:1300:4B2C:8D7B:5A59:E16:F8D6 (talk) 21:20, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Appearance In Animal House[edit]

In a series of photos in the “Animal House”, film tie-in book , John Landis is shown as a cafeteria worker, in a deleted scene. ( He challenges John Belushi / “Bluto” , for taking too much food, and is attacked.). 75.106.32.81 (talk) 05:43, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
