Omnibus act[edit]

Resolved

What about "blah-blah omnibus act"? That legal term also needs to be explained. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.70.48.242 (talkcontribs). 12:47, 11 January 2005‎ (UTC)[reply]

Omnibus picture[edit]

probably this concerns material now in bus or wagonette -P64 2012-06-19

The caption Omnibus - Project Gutenberg eText 16943.jpg is incorrect - the picture is not late 18th early 19th C - check the Gutenberg text it is taken from. The text was about Paris in the age of Napoleon III. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 156.34.47.213 (talkcontribs). 02:36, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vehicle[edit]

I saw a car that had a license plate that was labeled as an "omnibus". What does that mean?

1. google omnibus license plate pennsylvania
2. Generally, omnibus and autobus seem to be archaic terms for "bus", although at one time Omnibus, horse-drawn vehicle on public roads; Autobus, self-powered vehicle on public roads. See wagonette. ::--P64 (talk) 17:09, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Anthology[edit]

Does anyone have an example use of omnibus for "Anthology, a collection of literary works"?

I suspect that is a sloppy version of "Anthology#Omnibus ..." which I understand to mean a single-volume edition of previously published works by one author (or co-authors). Moments ago I moved this one up from "Media & entertainment" to "Publishing". --P64 (talk) 14:07, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I was going to ask about this usage. I had a book when I was a kid named The Omnibus of Nursery Rhymes, but none of these definitions apply to that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:E320:3CD:80AD:56B5:4BB0:8C8C (talk) 03:52, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
