Sternuous Objections to this box[edit]

Sorry guys & gals. I seriously object to this box on the following grounds:

  • Far too big
  • Far too arbitrary and partial selection of content
  • Many links are to articles which do not acknowledge the Industrial Revolution (e.g. most on the top line)
  • Does nothing which a well designed categorisation system would not do just as well

I have no problem with it sitting at the foot of, say, *one* single article about the British Industrial Revolution. But I'll fight tooth & nail to prevent this being stamped on articles bearing on the Industrial Revolution. --Tagishsimon

(Sorry I haven't replied to the note on my page yet, but it's probably best here anyway.) In general, I have a lot of sympathy with this argument, which is why I didn't blast it all over the place as soon as I'd created it. (It is only used on Industrial Revolution itself, so far.) I'll address the points one by one.
  • Far too big
I have played around with a number of configurations to reduce the footprint: there may be some way left to go.
  • Far too arbitrary and partial selection of content
This is my pet project, and I think it is going to take a long time. Over time the coverage will grow, which will - of course - make the first problem worse.
  • Many links are to articles which do not acknowledge the Industrial Revolution (e.g. most on the top line)
Yes. This is something that will be dealt with over time. When I started doing research on the Industrial Revolution within Wikipedia, I found that there was sparse detail. Rather than just create some monolithic central article, I am gathering resources and slowly upgrading articles as I come across them.
  • Does nothing which a well designed categorisation system would not do just as well
Aye, there's the rub. I hate seeing categories with only one or two entries, which is why I didn't embark on a category structure without amassing all the detail that might need to be illustrated. That may come with time. With this template, the majority of infomation is in a more structured and compact system than the category.
In summary, I won't be putting this anywhere else yet, until its obvious shortcomings have been dealt with. [[User:Noisy|Noisy | Talk]] 10:52, 15 Sep 2004 (UTC)

NavBox style[edit]

User:Noisy can you please justify your revert to the original style? Templationist 17:54, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very old red link to Dressing frame.[edit]

This template has contained a red link to Dressing frame for over five years now. If the article is unlikely to be made, the link should be removed from the template. Cheers! bd2412 T 22:12, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Link to deleted portal removed[edit]

The Industrial Revolution portal was recently deleted. I've removed the red link from the template. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 13:22, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
