I think that it was Bishop Brennan that made Jack into the drunk bitter man we see him as. Brennon is enough to drive any man insane.

Testiment to the beauty of the show that we can talk about them as if they have a history outside of what we see on TV! My guess is that Brennan screwed over Father Jack to get his promotion to Bishop. I assume that's what you're all getting at...
