Welcome 2[edit]

Hi Wil, thanks for note on the New user log. We can always use people with knowledge and an interest in learning more, as well as the ability to write well. :-) Take care. Chris Roy 06:29, 24 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Bastard Pop[edit]

Much appreciated.

Misspelling detection techniques[edit]

I'm working off of Wikipedia:List of common misspellings, combined with a en.wp-specific google search. Your approach seems a more elegant and thorough, but slower.

One of these days, I'm going to have to get around to writing a power-spelling program. -- Cyrius|&#9998 08:20, Apr 11, 2004 (UTC)

I use a program to go through the list, so I can't blame you for saying it would be slow to check everything by hand. Not sure if it qualifies as a power-spelling program, but it fixes the misspelled word and displays a list of other suggested corrections. I then review the changes and submit. Wmahan. 08:49, 2004 Apr 11 (UTC)
I meant power spelling as an analogue to power steering. It assists, does a lot of the work, but you still have the control. -- Cyrius|&#9998 09:32, Apr 11, 2004 (UTC)

Barbeque[edit]

This is not a mispelling. It is even listed in the article. Rmhermen 12:42, Apr 15, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks. I noticed the error after changing three articles but didn't think it was worth reverting them; see your talk page. Wmahan. 15:16, 2004 Apr 15 (UTC)

Other misspellings[edit]

Thanks for proof reading antenna.I've already fixed lots of my gramatical errors and typos, and I've reread it now so many times I'm going cross eyed. --ssd 02:39, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)

James Farmer Mistake[edit]

Don't worry about it, if you check your list of artciles with common grammtical errors you'll find many of my artiles listed there. In the words of Alexander Pope "To err is human." I also have the home court advantage; of living in Marshall, Texas, being a memeber of the local historical museum, and countless Black History Month Programs at school, and living 15 blocks north of James Farmer Street.

Duke[edit]

Does "prestigeous" necessarily have an NPOV problem? Other university pages have the same word (which I understand doesn't automatically make it NPOV) and I think that might require a discussion on the page... just my 2 cents. Drunkasian 22:04, 18 Apr 2004 (UTC)

I think one could make a good argument both ways. I'll mention it on the talk page, thanks.

Ricardo[edit]

By the way, good job on Ricardo! It needed expansion and I like what you've added. -- Derek Ross 04:44, 20 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Thanks! I admit my knowledge of economics is limited, but I hope others will add more. Wmahan. 05:04, 2004 Apr 20 (UTC)

LaRouche[edit]

Well, I agree it wasn't vandalism. But I don't see why it would be controversial to say that LaRouche and his followers view the "New World Order" as frightening. I dunno, if you want to revert me, feel free. john 04:18, 25 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Oh, Certainly we shouldn't just blanket revert anons. I personally found those changes to be, on balance, not as good, but whatever. john 04:39, 25 Apr 2004 (UTC)

=====[edit]

Just to say thanks for mopping up some of my awful spelling, much appreciated BozMo.

Thanks for language improvements![edit]

Thank you for your adjustments to the article on the Agreement of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance!

I think the first paragraph will be modified by others – it was stupid of me to emphaisize indirect effects without first stating the obvious superficial purpose to "tie Finland closer to the Soviet Union, and to project Soviet influence into the strategically important Finland in a way that wouldn't offend the Western Powers, including Sweden, too much"! ;-> /Tuomas 07:33, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)

You're welcome, glad I could help. Wmahan. 09:12, 2004 Apr 26 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Hi William, thanks for the note. Fixing those spelling mistakes is the sort of easy wiki tinkering I can always find a few minutes in my lunch hour for. We've a lot to do, but every little helps.

And thank-you for all the work that you're putting into this project yourself. Cheers, Ben --Bwmodular 11:32, 28 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Either/or[edit]

Yeah, Either/or was a capitalisation mistake. I didn't realise there was an Either/Or article, about a book. So I added a disambig. to Either/Or and created Either/Or (album) in the sake of correctness. I've been meaning to list Either/or on pages for deletion, but it kept slipping my mind.

Sorry, and thanks. --blankfaze 18:48, 28 Apr 2004 (UTC)
