Left publication info. I mostly leave messages on newbie talk pages. For them, my sig follows an intuitive format. lots of issues | leave me a message 22:33, 18 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again. I still think your sig's weird, though. --Ardonik.talk()* 16:16, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

You removed Category:To Village Pump (assistance) from the VP. It is used - it allows people to go to the next section of the village pump without having to scroll back up to the top of the (often very long) page. Please do not remove it again without discussion. (There is some disscussion of it on Wikipedia:Village Pump (news). Thanks! JesseW 01:36, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry — I tend to delete unused categories, and I had no idea it was being used that way. --Ardonik.talk()* 17:34, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

lilypond[edit]

Hello, you seem to be quite adept at creating sheet music with lilypond. Could you help me out by recreating Image:Sylviascore.gif and replacing it with a free version? If you can't, then could you refer me to someone who could? Thanks! -- Rmrfstar 22:06, 11 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey thanks for the response. I contacted Wwwwolf and he informed me that what I was proposing would be a copyvio. I'll have to find the original score. Thanks for your help though. -- Rmrfstar 00:07, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

my talk page[edit]

Your recent edit summary on my user page was uncalled for and in violation of Wikipedia:No_personal_attacks under the "Negative personal comments and "I'm better than you" attacks, such as "You have no life."" clause , Please try to be more polite in the future. 203.112.19.195 09:21, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also per wikipedia policy set forth at Wikipedia:Talk_page I have replied to the message and thus now erased it, the most it could be taken forth is as being uncivil if I didn't reply to it. 203.112.19.195 09:30, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Give me a break.
Deleting legitimate comments made on your talk page as you are doing is vandalism, and it is childish. No one will defend you, and I (and many others, as you have noticed) will happily revert you until such time as you mature. (Interested parties may look at this user's contributions and his talk page history and then judge for themselves whether the edit summary I made was called for.)
Make a useful contribution to this encyclopedia or leave. If you want your own page, create an account. I have zero sympathy for you. --Ardonik.talk()* 14:34, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

I'm not asking for sympathy, I'm asking for you to abide by and obey wikipedia policies as outlined on the website. If you can show me another applicable policy please do so, otherwise please do not put back comments that I have replied to and removed. 203.112.19.195 15:05, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You cite Wikipedia policy incorrectly, yet conveniently forget the three-revert rule. Another good topic for you to read is WP:POINT. Or perhaps these two rules do not apply to you because you are such a unique and special person. --Ardonik.talk()* 15:11, August 26, 2005 (UTC)
Per Wikipedia:Three-revert_rule#User_pages policy, "The 3RR is generally not enforced against editors reverting changes to their own user page space, on the principle that your user space is yours (for project-related purposes)." wheras if you start reverting my page three times, you are violating it 203.112.19.195 15:24, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Sigh. I must do better at not falling for trollbait in the future. --Ardonik.talk()* 15:29, August 26, 2005 (UTC)
Thank god for paradoxes! That's all it takes to get people to stop editing your user page. Oh btw, assume good faith? 203.112.19.195 15:36, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Accolades and inquiries.[edit]

Hello there!

First of all, I just wanted to say that your comments had me rolling over with laughter this afternoon. From your comments on the D programming language* to your remarks about vandalism (to your user page, no less!), every third minute brought me something to snicker about! You are a certifiable riot act!!

Why so few Wikipedians are engineers?[edit]

I am trying to understand why there are so few Wikipedians who are graduate engineers. Once I get a grasp on that, perhaps I may be able to formulate some ideas on how to attract more experienced engineers to become Wikipedians. It would be very helpful if you would respond to these a few questions:

  • Are you a university graduate engineer?
  • Please indicate in which of these engineering disciplines you obtained your degree:
    1. Aeronautical or aerospace engineering
    2. Bioengineer or biological engineering
    3. Chemical engineering
    4. Civil engineering
    5. Electrical engineering
    6. Environmental engineering
    7. Mechanical engineering
    8. Petroleum engineering
    9. Other
  • In what year did you obtain your degree?
  • What attracted you to participate in Wikipedia?

If you would rather not answer these questions on your Talk page, then you may respond on my User talk:mbeychok page. Or you may respond to me via Wikipedia's email which I have enabled on my User:mbeychok page.

If you would rather not respond at all, that's fine also. Regards, - mbeychok 04:28, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

California WikiProjects[edit]

As a California Wikipedian, you may be interested in the California WikiProject (and/or one of its 'daughter' Wikiprojects on Southern California, Santa Barbara County, California State Highways and California County Routes). Please take a look at the WikiProject to see if there is anything that interests you. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact me. If enough people express an interest, it would also be very easy to create additional daughter WikiProjects, such as a Northern California WikiProject or a California Politics WikiProject.

It has also more than seven months since the 2nd Los Angeles area Wikipedia meetup ([ 26 September]] 2005), so it is time for another one. There have also been California meetups in San Diego (18 October 2005) and a very small one in Santa Barbara (8 April 2006. It's also about time that the Bay Area gets its first Meetup if anyone is willing to organize it. BlankVerse 06:34, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redwall series[edit]

I dunno. I liked them as a kid but later on grew tired of all the "LOOK AT OUR DELICIOUS FOOD" stuff. Plus I never liked the whole division into good and evil (i.e. meateaters are always bad, with perhaps one or two exceptions in the whole series). For another excellent series of books usually found in the "children's" section I'd reccomend the Hungry City Chronicles, by Philip Reeve (another great British author).

And it's 1 am. What am I doing here? Battle Ape 17:37, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If anything, the thing I disliked the most was the emphasis on the dibbuns in later books. They were annoying, allowed to do whatever they wanted, and inevitably caused the Abbey a great deal of woe in times of danger.
And now I shall have to visit the bookstore again. --Ardonik.talk()* 09:23, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ecco2 Title.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ecco2 Title.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:31, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Airman_Campbell.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Airman_Campbell.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:40, 31 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 15:40, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Dopefish-windope.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dopefish-windope.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rockfang (talk) 16:29, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Survey request[edit]

Hi,
I need your help. I am working on a research project at Boston College, studying creation of medical information on Wikipedia. You are being contacted, because you have been identified as an important contributor to one or more articles.

Would you will be willing to answer a few questions about your experience? We've done considerable background research, but we would also like to gather the insight of the actual editors. Details about the project can be found at the user page of the project leader, geraldckane. Survey questions can be found at geraldckane/medsurvey. Your privacy and confidentiality will be strictly protected!

The questions should only take a few minutes. I hope you will be willing to complete the survey, as we do value your insight. Please do not hesitate to contact me or Professor Kane if you have any questions.

Thank You, BCeagle0312 (talk) 17:23, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History of "WikiGnome"[edit]

Hi Ardonik, I'm interested in the history of WikiFauna and WikiGnome in particular, and I noticed your comment on the WikiGnome talk page:

If you spend all your time on the Wikipedia browsing the recent changes list or jumping to random pages hoping to find something that you can copyedit, you might be a wiki gnome. --Ardonik 09:24, July 16, 2004 (UTC)

Did you create the term, or was it already in use? Thanks! Cleeder(talk)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
