Waranger[edit]

Waranger is a small country area situated 15 minutes outside of Murchison Edit: I thought it was someone with bad English skills describing a fictional country. Sorry about the faulty vfd's. Wyllium 00:19, 2004 Nov 10 (UTC)

  • Keep. Real place. RickK 00:29, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)
  • If it's a real place, can you direct us to some info so we can expand it? Google gives me nothing. At the moment, it's not particularly useful, and I suspect the title may be a typo. Mind you, Murchison Australia doesn't appear, and the only Murchison in Australia I'm aware of is a region on the west coast, not Victoria. Average Earthman 13:59, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Oh, okay, I made a bad assumption. If there is no record that such a place exists, then delete. My bad. RickK 21:08, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)
  • There is no place such as Waranger 15 minutres from Murchison. However, a Google Search on Murchison led to this site about the small town of Murchison in Victoria [1] containing a number for the Shepparton Visitor Centre. I called the visitor centre and they advised that there was a Waranga Basin 15 minutes from Murchison. This is a reservoir set up early last century to irrigate the Goulburn Valley and it is also used for watersports notably waterskiing. This site for Goulburn-Murray Water contains more information. [2]
I would propose that we delete Waranger as it and create an article for Waranga Basin instead. I will do so on the weekend if there are not too many cries of protest in the meantime. Capitalistroadster 11:33, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Sounds good to me. RickK 21:20, Nov 11, 2004 (UTC)
  • I'd agree with that. Average Earthman 09:41, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Added Waranga Basin article. Upon further research, there was also a Waranga Shire in Victoria in the same area which might have been the original inspiration of the article. Apart from vfd, the Waranga Basin article appears to be an orphan as there appears to be no articles on the surrounding country towns. I will work on developing articles on Murchison Victoria, Tatura Victoria and Rushworth Victoria which will fix that over the next couple of months. Capitalistroadster 03:01, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

PPS. Waranga Shire was split btween the City of Greater Shepparton and Campaspe Shire in 1994. Capitalistroadster 03:17, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

So are we going to delete this, or redirect it? RickK 08:45, Nov 20, 2004 (UTC)
