Overview[edit]
The list below shows redirect pages in the main english article namespace to which there are the most links. Multiple links from a single article are only counted once. It was generated on 2nd November 2004 from the 23rd October 2004 database dump.
Preamble[edit]
Links to redirect pages cause the target of the redirect page to appear when linked to. In many (but not all) cases, links should be made directly to the intended article, not to a redirect that points to it. However there are cases where links to a redirect are appropriate (e.g., where a separate article might someday be separated out from the currently redirected article). Edit articles linking to redirects to fix this unless they have an actual difference in meaning. In that case, you may want to replace the redirect with an article.
Many of these can be fixed with bots, but rigorous discussion and consensus should be gathered before making any massive amount of changes. Redirects themselves are harmless, and some redirect targets may change in the future. Choices are best made based on the context of the article.
