Hi! Why you blocked user without edits? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1.46.24.138 (talk) 07:08, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Because all his edits were caught and stropped by a filter, so they don't show normally. All of them, (and there were many), were blatant racism, using the N-word several times. In the future, please remember to sign your comments in talk pages by adding four tildes at the end. -- Alexf(talk) 11:04, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The reason why I don’t signed my message is because this would unnecessarily ping user. And why you sure this user is male? 1.46.21.29 (talk) 13:11, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not so. It is a requirement and does not ping anyone. It just indicates who posted the message and when. As per gender, who cares? Racism is unacceptable, no matter who posts it. -- Alexf(talk) 13:48, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User Bhargavshingala[edit]

Bhargavshingala (talk · contribs) made another edit to Medha Shankar, pushing the same site. I reported them to AIV for spam, but perhaps it's worth adding the site to the spam blacklist? Ravensfire (talk) 04:21, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Adminship Anniversary![edit]

Thank you! 16 years - can't believe how fast it goes! (and nearing 20 years as an editor). Yikes! -- Alexf(talk) 02:59, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the duplicate block[edit]

Normally I get a warning if a user's block status has changed. -Ad Orientem (talk) 01:51, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No big deal. -- Alexf(talk) 01:52, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a bit puzzled by this block; I don't see any promotional edits at all. Shouldn't it just be a username block? Or am I missing something? --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 18:41, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct. A case of mistaken identity upon review. Unblocked. Thanks for the heads up. -- Alexf(talk) 18:58, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GJT Airlines / GetJet Airlines[edit]

How did you know that GJT Airlines looked like it was editing the GetJet Airlines page for the purpose of advertising ? I did a revert of (almost all) the user's edits within 5 minutes on 14 February, plus a possible anonymous (IP address only) sock-puppet the following day within 2 minutes. I didn't report anything formally and the GetJet Airlines page has relatively few views each day. Pmbma (talk) 14:40, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't advertising as much as the username. It was reported at UAA. The name of a company is in violation of the username rules. -- Alexf(talk) 15:15, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Many Thanks for the info Pmbma (talk) 16:30, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You may wish to revoke TPA Cahk (talk) 08:13, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Cahk: It's not a nasty comment. It is an explanation in Bengali of his motivation to explain and promote Islam. Not the place, but I'll let it go in case he comes to his senses, reads the instructions. and decides to request an unblock and enter that process. If he goes nasty, then yes. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 10:18, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism only account[edit]

Hi, I believe you made a mistake earlier today on the WP:VOA account (Miyakoanand) I reported on a WP:GENSEX topic - [1]. Warning a vandalism only account is not required and I believe the correct course of action for admins per WP:VOA/WP:DISRUPTONLY is to ban them indef. Raladic (talk) 02:28, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User has been watchlisted. I'll give them one chance on their next edit and see. -- Alexf(talk) 02:46, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I love your talk page archive setup[edit]

I've been experimenting with some talk page archiving, and I really like how you do it on your page. Can you elaborate on your setup? I can only really see that you use the talkheader template, but there isn't any other script I can see. If you could, I'd love if youd just copy paste some that I can yoink over to my own page :). Cheers -REDACTED403 (talk) 02:39, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@REDACTED403: It is fairly easy. First I go to the last archive I have (by clicking on my Talk page at the top. This opens it. I then change the number to one more and save the page. At the top of the new archive page I place {{talkarchive}} at the top. Then I go back to the Talk Page to be archived, and cut the text I want to move, (usually the last 3 months or more, depending on volume). Then I move this to the newly created archive page. Save everything and done. -- Alexf(talk) 14:08, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
