Daytona International Speedway

1371 – Robert II became King of Scots as the first monarch of the House of Stewart.
1959 – Lee Petty won the first Daytona 500 NASCAR auto race at the Daytona International Speedway (pictured) in Daytona Beach, Florida.
1974 – Samuel Byck attempted to hijack an aircraft at Baltimore/Washington International Airport with the intention of crashing it into the White House to assassinate Richard Nixon, but he was stopped by police.
2019 – A group broke into the North Korean embassy in Madrid and stole several mobile telephones and digital storage devices.

Yes you can do this - but I don't see any sence on it. You've been talking somethings about noospheres and such and as it seems to me you contradict yourself. Time will tell (I deeply believe) that Tzol'kinlike datums will have some further meanings on our own reality... That was just my attempt to show some other ways on doing calendrix outta time. What does this mean: 2001 - Claude Elwood Shannon, mathematician (according to K. Devlin)? Who is K. Devlin, and why is there doubt about Shannon's death? -- Zoe

Why is the birthday of Sir Lord Baden-Powell mentioned twice? I don't think it is important here that there are two or more scouting assossiciations out there, but that this is the birthday of b.p. and his wife. --Claudio Röthlisberger

No Dolly?[edit]

I would have thought that The announcement of the first successful cloning of a mammal from adult cells would have been a bit more significant to put in the main page anniversaries than some of the things chosen. In fact one could argue that the announcement of the cloning of Dolly the Sheep was THE most important thing that has happened on this date.--Shearluck (talk) 21:18, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed recently that events that have happened in the last few days/hours are turning up in both on this day and did you know. Should this be allowed to continue? Continuing the ongoing effort to reduce the size of the Births and Deaths sections to make them manageable, I've removed some celebrities with few or no articles in other wikipedias, moving the entries to the appropriate Year in Topic article if they were not already present.Deb (talk) 11:44, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
