Cocaine for medical use[edit]

Hi,

Recently you wrote "Cocaine is available for medical use if warrented by the physician, I've seen cocaine sulfate used for in-hospital procedures within the past year".

I'm interested to know the procedure specifically, whether it was a commercial pharmaceutical product and the general country/region this took place. I've been curious whether cocaine is actually still used medically yet, despite people claiming it is, I've been able to find zero substantive evidence to support this. For instance, no medical supply distributors list cocaine in any form as an available product (while they do list other Schedule II drugs like Fentanyl). Likewise, I can't find cocaine listed anywhere in references regarding modern medical procedures, only synthetic anesthetics like lidocaine or benzocaine.

Any help or references you could give to help clear this up would be appreciated. --Bk0 (Talk) 00:13, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
