Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Susan Gibson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Little information, nothing that makes her exceptionally notable. No Google hits, though there were several hits for the musician with the same name. Probably vanity entry. —Frecklefoot 16:10, Apr 6, 2004 (UTC)
  • It was a sweet and romantic thing for my boyfriend to do. I ask for your tolerance. --Susan Gibson
    • Agreed. :-) But unfortunately we have a policy here against vanity entries. If you become a user, feel free to fill your user page with whatever you like (like mine). But in order to have an article in the 'pedia, you have to be somewhat well-known. One way of assessing "fame" is via the Google test which you, unfortunately, failed. —Frecklefoot 19:18, Apr 6, 2004 (UTC)
  • Hello Susan, and welcome to Wikipedia. While Wikipedia is many things, there is a tradition against biographical articles about subjects who are not notable. The article about you really doesn't belong, and you may wish to print it or copy the text elsewhere in the next few days before it is scheduled for deletion. UninvitedCompany 20:12, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, or move to a user page. - Fennec 04:41, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC)

    • Why? —Frecklefoot 16:28, Apr 7, 2004 (UTC)
      • The article isn't spiteful, and it's not a shill. She's apparently a radio personality, a published author, and an activist. I'm not interested in her; but the article is written respectfully, and I don't believe its existence is embarrassing to Wikipedia. Moreover, she cared enough about the article to visit VfD and plead her case. She admitted that the page carries little relevance, but asked for our tolerance. She has acted in good faith, and I'd rather allow a harmless vanity article than drive her away. Wikipedia needs good-spirited contributors. Cribcage 20:30, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • Nothing personal, but delete. -- Cyrius|&#9998 17:04, Apr 7, 2004 (UTC)
  • It's a stub. I agree with Cribcage, and further suggest that any consensus on 'notability' is seriously lacking in Wiki. My suggestion is that we allow Susan or her friend some time to flesh in the details of achievements and honoraria, and then consider it for deletion or not. Since we can't move this one to 9/11 and delete... Denni 23:30, 2004 Apr 7 (UTC)
  • Delete, vanity page, no evidence that Susan Gibson is sufficiently notable to warrant inclusion. Susan, if you're reading this, no offense and we'd like to have you as a user. You have time to register as a user, which is easy, and move this material to your talk page. If you want to do this, say the word and I or others will be glad to help. • Delete. Romance is great. But not in the article namespace. It's deliciously POV, and just doesn't fit happily there. Sorry. Andrewa 11:19, 12 Apr 2004 (UTC)
  • This should be edited if it is kept, obviously. But I am going to vote to delete unless some assertion is made on the page justifying inclusion (perhaps further detail on radio career?...). --Daniel C. Boyer 16:17, 14 Apr 2004 (UTC)
