  • I am researching for a book about Arthur Godfrey, his activities and associates. The latter most definitely includes Duke Kahanamoku. Although Duke was older by 13 years, they were close friends. He hosted Mr. Godfrey on his visits to Hawaii, was feted by Mr. Godfrey on Duke's US visits, and visited on Mr. Godfrey's programs.
  • The Wikipedia article on Kahanamoku reveals that Duke was named for the Duke of Wellington. Obviously this meant something to the senior Kahanamokus. Does anyone know why or what?
  • I'll appreciate hearing from anyone who can contribute photos, recollections or anecdotes relating to Messrs. Kahanamoku or Godfrey, or to Hawaiian guests on the Godfrey programs.
  • This of course includes Haleloke, the singer/dancer so popular on the Godfrey shows in the 1950s. Hally was also formerly performer and manager at the Hawaiian Room of the Hotel Lexington, where for many years Arthur Godfrey maintained his own suite. Many thanks! Gratefully,

  • A lengthier article exists at Duke Kahanamoku. There should be a consideration of merging the two articles and creating at redirect from one of them. --Farinas 20:13, 24 Jul 2004 (UTC)
