Untitled[edit]

I've removed most of the images (which were making the article look less than an encylopædia and more like fanzine), including the section on 'stylings' (which doesn't mean anything to me — is it a direct translation of a Korean word?). the article still needs to be overhauled in terms of English & Wikipedia style; I'll try to do it myself (I've made a start with things like numbers, dates, and section headings), but help would of course be approciated.

I notice, incidentally, that the images still don't have copyright templates. If these aren't added, there;'s a very good chance that they'll be put up for deletion. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 09:44, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Protection[edit]

I've protected this article until the anonymous editors who are waging a revert war over the External links section either give up or explain their reasons here. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 15:17, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

North Korea?[edit]

Why no mention of their performance in North Korea in 2003? One would think that would deserve to be included. Gemfire 04:01, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discography[edit]

Because they have such a large discography, either start a new page, or organise the info in a nice chart. I did it a certain way on S.E.S., but it doesn't necessary have to be like that. Check Mariah Carey albums discography or Spice Girls discography for expanded examples. SKS2K6 07:07, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I organized into a nice chart, but it still needs work. mirageinred 14:03, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
GOOD JOB :))))))))))))) SKS2K6 05:05, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Aww thanks. I just need tracklisting on best of albums and summer albums. mirageinred 19:34, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have the album covers. But I don't know how to upload them.
Hey Htruc, are you new? When you leave comments you sign with these: ~~~~. If you want to upload pictures look under Special pages (it's one of the menus) for "Upload file." Before you upload them, be sure to name them properly. i.e. instead of random assembled numbers like 123214 go for shinhwa8album or something. Also, when you upload them, look for an appropriate tag to make sure that it won't have copyright problems. mirageinred 00:55, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the image Image:shinhwaconcertsg2.jpg which was placed in the concerts section several times. To me it reads like an advertisement for the concert, which is unencyclopedic. I placed a hidden note in the article, since I wasn't sure the message was reaching the anon who placed it. Feel free to remove the message when the issue has passed. The concert is over at 10 Sept. --TeaDrinker 17:48, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I listed two articles for deletion.[edit]

Andy Lee (musician) and Kim Dong Wan's pages have nothing more than a list of unencyclopedic facts and a sentence of who they are. If they are not improved now, they will be gone in five days. You may wish to assert your opinion on their talk pages. Please do not remove the tag without improving the article. mirageinred 22:48, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why not just redirect them to Shinhwa? -- Visviva 23:01, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm.. but that would involve blanking the whole pages (practically as same as deletion), which some people might object too. Maybe I can recreate the page after the deletion for redirect.. mirageinred 21:36, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You know what? I changed my mind. You were right. mirageinred 23:10, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Main pic[edit]

Doesn't this article need a main group picture? SKS2K6 04:14, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done. mirageinred 21:57, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anybody have a free image? mirageinred 19:36, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notable achievements and awards[edit]

This article is not a place to praise Shinhwa for how popular they are or for how many awards they have won. This section must be merged somehow. I considered delete at one point but it has too much information. mirageinred 01:20, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Solo pages[edit]

I do not get why Eric's page was deleted if Andy's is still up. Out of all of them, the only members who need solo pages at this point are Minwoo, Hyesung, and Eric, because they have done notable solo work...which is why I found it funny that Eric's page was deleted. Nevertheless, I'm not advocating for the re-creation, simply becuase he hasn't done anything since. But I'm just wondering why Andy's page is still up. Is his MCing Inki Gayo notable? If so, I'll add.... SKS2K6 05:44, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I had proposed Andy's for deletion before. It was supposed to be deleted within five days if no one opposed. Well, no one contested the deletion for four days, but on the very last day someone removed the tag and attempted to clean it up. Honestly, it still looks like crap. I don't think the page qualifies for speedy deletion so you can propose it.mirageinred 04:08, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I daresay Eric Mun's page was deleted because some excited fan wrote his page like it was written with her feet but no one would ever, ever know. mirageinred 04:13, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! Help, this need some fixing![edit]

Ah this page needs major fixing. There are typo's and mix ups everywhere! It's all choppy and does not go very well at all. Someone who know's more about Shinwa help this page out? Thanks!

Repairs[edit]

This article needs some work. There is a lot of info but it isn't all sourced; there are typos and grammar errors(I did attempt to fix some); and some of the sentences such as one I just fixed are not updated(eg. 'will debut in 2006' when 2006 is already over). I'm not sure, but parts of the article also sound a bit not NPOV. Am I overreacting? The whole writing style in parts is also choppy and a bit informal.

I will try to go through the article fixing grammar, typos and behind-time statements, but the NPOV thing I'm not sure how to. Someone help? This article really needs work and people aren't bothering to do enough...Hsstorm 06:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This page is incredibly messy and has been for a long time; everytime I tag it as "clean up", though, someone removes the tag. Whatever the case, feel free to edit as you please, as long as you meet Wikipedia standards. As for the company move, it should be noted and sourced. SKS2K6 00:15, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Company move[edit]

Should there be something on the recent company move that happened? I'm just uncertain because no one else has done anything. It is quite a big thing for Shinhwa and it did cause a big stir; it also means not all of them are in Good Enter. now, though their albums will be coming out through Good. What do you think?Hsstorm 06:42, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:8th album cover.jpg[edit]

I found Image:8th album cover.jpg and noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Someone will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If it was obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If there are other files on this page, consider checking that they have specified their source and are tagged properly, too. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:05, 26 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fair use rationale for Image:8th album cover.jpg[edit]

Image:8th album cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 04:05, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discography[edit]

Shinhwa's dis. is simply too big. Can someone please make a different page for it? It's taking up a lot of the room. 206.40.103.104 22:59, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Album title[edit]

Shouldn't "Hae Gyul Sa" translated into "Resolver", as it is a) a more concise definition and b) it's what their music video says? Baejung92 23:04, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think so because their music video did say so. I just edited it, but I'll change it now.Too peachy 17:21, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help Wanted[edit]

This page is a mess. Choppy grammar, startling POV issues, and not enough solid info. I've been steadily editing my way down the page, yet I find that after deleting sentences like "Shinhwa won Best Asian Artist at Japan's 21st Golden Disk Awards, proving that they are the best Asian artist.", that make up a surprisingly large portion of the article, paragraphs become very short. Help editing this page would be great. Chiaren

Did anyone notice?[edit]

Awards[edit]

Should we make a diff. page for their awards? It's getting awfully long and I don't think they'll stop getting awards niether, unless they disband. If no one objects, I'm going too because it's taking pretty much a lot of the space on their page. 206.40.103.145 21:53, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's quite true that their awards are getting long. Perhaps I can try to make an awards page for them the next time I edit. Cherrieslovable 22:03, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I made the page. It's at List of Shinhwa's awards. I hope it doesn't look so unorganize. Cherrieslovable 17:34, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Names[edit]

I've noticed that throughout the entire article, the members of Shinhwa have their names written in many ways. Such as Minwoo vs. Min Woo, Dongwan vs. Dong Wan, Hyesung vs. Hye Sung, Junjin vs. Jun Jin (BTW, is Jun his last name or not? Just curious). So, just wondering if maybe we should keep their names written in ONE way only, or not? And shouldn't they be mention by their last name? It's what most articles do whenever they mention the artist, they mention them by their last name only. Just wondering about this. Too peachy 01:33, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed the names of the members: Minwoo ---> Min Woo, Dongwan ---> Dong Wan, Junjin ---> Jun Jin, and Hyesung ---> Hye Sung. It's what their offical site says, so I think it's the correct way to put it. And though I know that most articles do mention last names only, it would be a bit confusing as there are two Lee's, Min Woo and Andy. We'll just keep it at their first names. 206.40.103.150 04:06, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Styles[edit]

Could someone please clean up this section? It is very poorly written and there are no references for any of the things written here (ex. Minwoo being the Shinhwa choreographer).

Overuse of "also known as" field in members' infoboxes[edit]

I'm putting this here because I think it'll get more visibility than on the members' pages, and I don't want to have the same discussion five times. I've noticed the "also known as" fields in the infoboxes of all pages (except Shin Hyesung's) have accumulated a plethora of nicknames. According to the infobox guidelines for musicians/singers, that field is for names not already mentioned elsewhere that the person has actually used in an official capacity. 'M' has been professionally used by Minwoo for solo activities. 'Steve Jung' is probably appropriate for Hyesung because he actually used that name as a part of his real life. Everything else I saw (Minbong, Ero-Wan, Waeric, ZomDy, Baby Bird, etc.) were fan-given nicknames (many English-only fandom) or relatively-short-term nicknames from Shinhwa Broadcast or other TV shows (ok, Baby Bird is long-term, but you get what I'm saying. It's a Shinhwa-fan-only thing). They haven't been used in any official capacity or in secondary sources (news accounts and such). So, I propose removing them. I realize this is an issue on many, many Korean entertainment-related pages but Shinhwa's the only one I care about, ha ha. Comments? (By the way, I'm told I often sound harsh when I write because I'm too direct. I actually mean this all in a very friendly way. =D)Shinyang-i (talk) 02:24, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Months with no response, so I'm deleting them! Please don't re-add nicknames, even if used on Shinhwa's twitter, facebook, etc. "Also known as" is for names the artist has used professionally, such as Minwoo's use of "M".  :) Shinyang-i (talk) 06:02, 13 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
