I deleted "for example "the circle" references the monument in the private park". Looking at the lyrics, the "circle" has nothing to do with any monument, and in any case there has never been any sort of monument in Moseley Park. But any clarification of this would be welcome. If you have access to the lyrics, could you post what it says in context please? Possibly this refers to the ice-house, but without knowing what the lyrics say I can't check. Mattley 13:32, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hi Mattley. I asked about this on the Moseley chat group at http://mikel.homedns.org/mf/index.php
Somebody over there found the following lyrics on the web.

"Saturday afternoon the sunshine pours like wine through your window
But I know golden June can turn an empty grey against your window
And I feel like I'm on the outside of a circle-
If I walk by the trees I'll catch the falling leaves if the wind blows
But I know all this means is whiling on the hours watching side-shows
Will I turn my coat to the rain I don't know
But I'm going somewhere I can warm my bones
Fare you well I'll carry me away
and sing for those I know upon their birthdays."

Hmmm. That doesn't seem to be a reference to anything. Fair enough.Mattley 21:20, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)

photo of Moseley Park added[edit]

Thought I would add a photo of Moseley Park as there were not any on the page. Most people had back to the camera, so should pose no 'model release' problems.Rich@rd 18:26, September 10, 2005 (UTC)Rich@rd

A nice enough pic, but as it's private property, and could really be any park, anywhere, it doesn't say much about Moseley. Does anyone have a photo of the village green, say, or something more unique to Moseley? I'll try to take some myself, but won't have time for a while.--Shantavira 12:19, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I've found one. It's a few years old, but will have to do for now.--Shantavira 12:32, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Decent pic. Much better. (Always makes me laugh though that its called a 'village'). Marcus22 16:07, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Editors[edit]

As I understand it they met at Uni in Stafford and lived in Kings Heath for a few years, they didn't originate in Moseley I'm afraid - though a more in depth music section could be a good addition to this page. StringBeanD (talk) 20:26, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnic diversity[edit]

I've removed the information from the Telegraph article because it is clearly wrong. The majority of people in Moseley are white and it is extremely unlikely that the overwhelming majority of them originated from outside Britain.

Moseley does have diverse population but not it's not diverse enough to make it less than 10% 'white British.'

I shouldn't have blindly reverted the edit by 77.98.43.37 on the 27/04/10. The material is sourced but the figures aren't reliable. Unknown Unknowns (talk) 11:27, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Famous Moseley People[edit]

I'm new to this so apologies if I'm not going about things in the right way but I've tried to update a list of people who were born, worked or lived in Moseley. My suggestion is below. Most of the suggestions are taken directly from Wikipedia pages of Moseley School etc.

Other areas (such as Bromsgrove) have similar lists but for whatever reason one person wants to revert back to the very basic list. I'm not sure if this is simply because they don't want their changes amended in any way or if they have substantive points to make. I don't know whether it is worth addressing their comments if it's the former but on the offchance it's the later - (1) Begg was schooled at St David's and Moseley School. (2) UB40 were formed in Moseley and Ali Campbell lived on Kingswood Rd. (3) They agree Kenneth Clarke lived in Moseley whilst an MP. My understanding is that he was Health Minister whilst he had a house on Sailsbury Rd. (4) Pete the Feet is considered as not notable. I disagree. By stating he is a local artisan I think he is covered. I hope this helps and we can now build on the list / remove any bits people have issues with rather than go back to square one with the basic original. Thanks Rosie (Roseo1979)

I would like to apologize for removing the complete section that you created. I did it for two reasons. Firstly, there was a danger of the pertinent information about Moseley being swamped by information only tenuously related to it. Secondly, a lot of the information you added was unsourced - e.g. the reference you cited for Digby Jones didn't even mention Moseley.
I suggest we have a Notable Residents section like other pages, with only sourced material in it. Adding people who went to school in Moseley just duplicates information on the schools' page. Also, it isn't notable for an MP to live in their constituency, despite what the prsss would have us believe. Wikipedia has strict rules on notablility which exclude people like 'Pete the Feet'. Try creating a page about him and see what happens! Unknown Unknowns (talk) 17:43, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response. I take on board your point about Digby Jones - I can't find a source even though I remember going to his house many years ago, so I've taken him out for the time being. Likewise Beaumont Dark. With the Chamberlains they are key historical figures who lived and worked in the area. I appreciate that including any politicians raises issues about political affilitations but I think we need to put them aside and it is misleading not to include them.

I've worked through the list tonight just trying to clean up the references. I was rather surprised Fyfe Dangerfield had been removed? How come? He's born in Moseley.

I like the notable approach. In terms of having a full list - wikipedia seems the right place for that list to be set out. That way people who live in Moseley can find out about the area's heritage. For example, Nigel Howard is clearly notable but probably isn't known to that many people. Kind regards Rosie

I removed Fyfe Dangerfield as there was nothing in the the reference to say that he lived in Moseley. There is nothing in Henry Vollam Morton's reference either. My main concern is that there is still a lot of unsourced material in this section so I've also added some links to your talk page regarding notability, verifiability, etc.
I've moved the list to the end of the article (like on other pages) so it doesn't detract from it. Unknown Unknowns (talk) 09:39, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Odd removals on 13 June. Looks like someone has an agenda not to show all the great people who lived and worked in Moseley listed - sour grapes from another area maybe? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.111.204.74 (talk) 20:26, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
