Could there be a number field to say how many wikis there are? also, this one lists 100 while the active languages on meta list 99. -- Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 15:04, 2004 Jul 29 (UTC)

I'll have to look into that. I haven't been following the Meta data (I wasn't aware of it), but have been keeping sharp eye open for new language wikis that become active, adding them to the list as required. There is a link on the main page to the complete list of wikis; at semi-regular intervals I look through to see which new languages have started to function. It's not 100 percent foolproof - I found a number of wikis that had not been bolder, which should have been. I've corrected those that I know about - but there are probably others.

As for numbering the wikis, I'm not against the idea, but would find it a bit of a pain to renumber them all every time a new wiki goes online (several times a month, at the present rate). Besides, I tried to design the table to fit the screen, with twelve monthly columns. An extra field would probably make the table too wide - but there may be ways around that. We'll see.

A couple of new languages will probably be added to the list this week. I see that someone has resurrected the Serbo-Croat wikipedia (which was supposed to be disbanded when divided into its Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian components), so that will have to be added to the table, along with a couple of others.
