Chunca[edit]

I have scoured the internet as to where I can buy the Philippine version of Mancala (chuncajon or chunca), a wooden board with 16 depressions and marbles or stones. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase this game? Thanks, jesswrites03[at]yahoo[dot]com (please change "[at]" and "[dot]" to "@" and ".", this is used a measure to prevent spam email.)—Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.182.50.41 (talkcontribs) 22:15, 28 October 2003

Just build one yourself, not too difficult. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.23.143.15 (talkcontribs) 23:16, 9 September 2004

Hus[edit]

I cannot see in how far the Namibian game //Hus can be seen as more a game of chance than the others. 213.23.143.15 23:16, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Alphabetized[edit]

I alphabetized the lhe list of other games. I pulled out the following items for the reasons following the item.

  • 1 The board is 4×8
    • is mentioned in the section just before.
  • Abangah (Niam-Niam in Sudan)
    • removed the reference to Niam-Niam. It seems to be more a (derogatory) name for the culture playing it, rather than the game itself.
  • Chungeajon (Philippines)
    • almost identical spelling, same country.
  • Dakon (Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines)
    • changed to just Dakon which redirects to Congklak anyway.
  • Mancal
    • is this actually a fully distinct name?

Didn't pull the following, but somone familiar with these games might want to verify if these are actually names for these games and where they are played?

Unusual Features[edit]

The list of "Games with Unusual Features" seems spurious. Those games do not seem to have unusual features. Shouldn't those four be moved to the general alphabetical list?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Sjohnson.sc (talkcontribs) 20:37, 15 February 2008

Apparent errors[edit]

(1) In the description of Das Bohnenspiel, I assume the word "stones" should actually be "stores". (I have never played the game, so I cannot be sure.) According to the linked article, the game's name refers to beans, and not stones.

(2) The Wikipedia article linked from the description does not show any stores on the board. The external article linked from that article *does* show stores on the board.

I recommend that someone who knows what is going on resolve the conflict in (2), as well as the wording referred to in (1). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Micro-Parallel (talkcontribs) 05:39, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Larger Lists[edit]

Mancala World is a far better source about mancala games than Wikipedia.

Modern sowing games at http://mancala.wikia.com/wiki/Modern_sowing_games lists 199 modern games, traditional mancala games at http://mancala.wikia.com/wiki/Traditional_mancala_games several hundred traditional games. There is also a list of 817 names of traditional mancala games from 99 countries at http://mancala.wikia.com/wiki/Names . --- 84.175.128.57 (talk) 08:34, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
