Public domain, but still copyrighted. The public domain exception to copyright applies to works of the US governent, not state government, and the source page is copyrighted by the State of California. Kablammo (talk) 12:20, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm concerned about this too. Most of the California state park articles are seeded from text copied from the official website, which have been wikified and adapted to varying extents. On the one hand there is this public domain notice at the state level. However California State Parks has its own Conditions of Use policy which states "California State Parks expressly prohibits the copying, republishing or display of any content on this website, except for the purposes of fair use... Fair use of material on this website includes the use of materials for non-commercial educational purposes... None of the content may be altered or modified." Nevertheless neither California State Parks nor anyone else has objected since the content was all copied over around 2004. Was the content marked public domain back then or was someone mistakenly assuming that what applied to federal content also applied to state government content? -McGhiever (talk) 15:22, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Redwood National and State Parks Designation REMOVED[edit]

"Redwood National and State Parks" is a VERY specific name for only REDWOOD NATIONAL PARK and the three state parks (Prarie Creek, Del Norte Coast, and Jedediah Smith) that are located adjacent to (actually touching) Redwood National Park. This category is in error listing any parks beyond those three State parks in addition to RNP and will confuse readers. No other parks are included in the historic management compact that exists in between only the three listed state parks and Redwood National Park. Disagree? Call/Check sources related to Redwood National Park Headquarters in Crescent City, CA...Norcalal (talk) 07:32, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
