Orphaned fair use image (Image:Luftwaffe_logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Luftwaffe_logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Armor Holdings[edit]

I did not deny that I made a mistake. You could have been a bit more diplomatic, rather than "SHOUTING". Sometimes, as a result of my very poor eyesight, I mistake similar text blocks, particularly when editing HTML-like blocks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Darkieboy236 (talkcontribs) 18:37, 7 May 2007

concern about User:Freearena[edit]

Hi! I'm a bit concerned about Freearena because that user has recently (2 days ago) posted a comment upon my talk page, which was a personal attack. today I reverted it, having not seen it before today, and warned the user. Just looking at the user's userpage and contributions, I am a bit concerned that the user is not a genuine wikipedia editor, and is more just for attacking users (eg me, and also see users user page[1]) and attacking wikipedia. You are an administrator and so you are more likely to know what to do about this user, or where else to put this concern. I just thought that the community ought to be brought to attention about this user. Thanks for your assistance in this matter. Stwalkerster talk review 14:27, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:BSB logo.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BSB logo.PNG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Unspecified source for Image:BSB logo.PNG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BSB logo.PNG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:03, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fair use rationale for Image:BNFL.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BNFL.png.

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:50, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Snecma logo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Snecma logo.png. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

The Stig Comment.[edit]

Look, i'll be nice and offer a trade of sorts. I don't mind the comment, but written as is, it pretty much leaves it open to arguements. I'll help you out on some of your rationale stuff above. In return, howabout you add a note or modify the comment explaining that the notation on the report doe not explain fully if Collins is The Stig or not. At least add something that acknowledges the speculation part. Agree? --293.xx.xxx.xx 05:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Like i said, the statement as-is leaves it completely open to debate. If it's modified to a point where the speculation part is addressed, then I wouldn't have an issue with it. Do you see my point? --293.xx.xxx.xx 05:51, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mind the rewrite, I completely agree with it. I'm just joking at the fact that if other poeple have an issue with it, then they can edit it themselves. Perhaps the anonymous IP's as of late will stop adding nonsense and edit that comment. --293.xx.xxx.xx 19:44, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Westland Helicopters Ltd.png. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

F1 FACs[edit]

Thanks for that, I appreciate it. I think at WP:F1, we need one or two race FACs that are "normal" races, where not to much happened, the three we've got at the moment (Imola 1994, Jerez 1997 + Indy 2005), something you didn't expect happened (Sennas death, Schumi/Villeneuve crash; 6 car start). I think that 2007 Malaysian Grand Prix and 2007 French Grand Prix is about the right time to put them in for FAC (French one might be a little early!), but if other users state pacific problems the article has, I can then change what they think is wrong/not right. On that point, one user, Blnguyen (I don't normally like to pick out users) stated this on the Malaysian FAC and left a similar comment on the French FAC.

"Firstly I think that the race report can be more comprehensive. Sure it wasn't a particularly interesting race in terms of overtaking, but I think there needs to be more information on how the race evolved. Also I think with F1 races, there should always be a preview section and an aftermath section, because this article has neither. Leading up to any race, the pundits are always dissecting what happened in previous races, what happened in testing and technical upgrades since then, and who has the upper hand, and as a result what is expected at the upcoming race....whose job is on the line, who needs to establish supremacy over their team-mates etc. The aftermath section should show what the implications of the race were. Which teams made up ground on their opponents, who got a psychological victory over their team-mates and so forth."

I'm probably going to improve the pre-race bit, but do you think that some of this is needed to advance the article? I just wanted to get another user thoughts on the above points Blnguyen pointed out. Thanks for the comment - hopefully the articles will become FA! :) Davnel03 08:16, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Racal logo.png[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Racal logo.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:44, 1 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 20:44, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mark, can you please move the edits I made back, or at least copy them over to the main article. There was no need to move them. Let's see what others think first. It would be a sign of good faith if you did it yourself. John Smith's 17:35, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Horizon class frigate[edit]

I see that you've edited that article before. The main page says speed is 30 knots+, but the articles on Forbin and Chevalier Paul say 29 knots. I don't suppose you know which is correct do you? I didn't want to edit the page until a source could be found. I'll post this message up on the talk page, but there hasn't been much activity there for a while so thought it might be good to cover my bases. John Smith's 22:45, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I changed the speed on the article with the source.
Yes, there are similarities, but personally I think Daring is more handsome. Also I found that my point about Daring's speed is wrong - she made 31.5 knots if you can believe it. John Smith's 23:03, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Another good reason for not sticking with Horizon! John Smith's 23:12, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It could be hull design, or engine efficiency. Either way it is great news - she's a real package now. As to the French, well we told them to get stuffed with the new carriers too. They wanted us to hold on to save their project - now we've gone ahead and they'll have to go it alone. John Smith's 23:21, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Meh, I don't think that she needs a big anti-submarine capability - after all she's an escort, not a multi-purpose ship. Though at the moment we don't know how fast the new carriers will be - they may be faster than expected if they're finished up as conventionals. Apparently that's the fall-back position if the F-35B is cancelled or made unaffordable, though to be honest at the moment I think the project will still go through. Type 45 edit[edit]

I wouldn't trust the RN site on anything - it's rarely updated. I checked Richard Beedall's site and it said that the support equipment hasn't been fit yet.

http://navy-matters.beedall.com/daring1-2.htm

"It's hoped to eventually fit equipment to allow the operation of a EH101 Merlin HM.1, for which the ships are being designed from the outset with sufficient space to land, "house" and maintain."

Whereas the Asters will definitely be fitted. John Smith's 09:50, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening[edit]

I was looking at your diverse contributions, very nice. I would like to invite you to visit WP:TRUEORIG. WikiProject True Origins WP:TORIG is now WikiProject Timeline Tracer WP:TIMETRACE also WP:TIMET. This follows many opinions that the previous name of the project could confuse or provide negative feelings in some users. Daoken 02:12, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Armour Holdings[edit]

One could argue that the info I "dumped" was wholly inappropriate for the Presidential State Car (United States). While I could be guilty of "dumping" into Armour Holdings, perhaps you should seek out the person(s) who "dumped" that info in the Prez Limo article and scold them as well.--293.xx.xxx.xx 22:56, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Airbus[edit]

Is the Airbus article having any editors at the moment? Heltzen 16:42, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GR4/GR.4[edit]

From what I can remember from my service days (before the GR4!) aircraft documentation used the designation like T Mk 1 but non-offical documents I am sure used T1. I dont think that there would have been an official change as it is just an abbreviation. Not sure that it is important but we should use the same form in an article. MilborneOne 20:41, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would say remove the dot from them all (which I have done before) to be consistant. MilborneOne 20:58, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Supercarrier[edit]

Mark, I removed the PROD from the Supercarrier page, as I wasn't sure if a "hold-on" tag was appropriate. Not trying to be disruptive, but it should go through the full AFD process. I agree there are no definitive sources in the article, but it does describe the acepted definition of the term. I looked in about 5 books on ships and carriers, and they all use the term without giving a specific definition of it. Most claim the United States as the first supercarrier to be designed, and the Forrestal as the first actually built. Btw, most of these books were published in Britain by British authors (or, if you will, in the UK by UK-ish authors), and are certainly not "tabloids". Thanks. - BillCJ 22:36, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response. I think we should post requests on WP:AIR, WP:SHIPS, and WP:MILHIST to ask for any definitive sources the editors may have access to. One reason I do think the page should stay (with proper sources) is that it is a common term, and the main page is very long at this point. If we still don't have anything after that, then I'll agree to merging the page to Aircraft carrier. - BillCJ 15:44, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Censored edit[edit]

Hi. I take your point. The exasperation it conveyed is mainly aimed at the consistent treatment of practice and test sessions as an aspect of a race weekend that is equally as significant as the qualification and race. It is a comment that I have made over and over to those two who do much of the editing for the recent race reports, and many times I get their little-boy-lost, "oh really?" response, as though I were raising something completely new to them. It just got to me that here was yet another undeserving FAC that contained such obvious flaws and I let it spill over a little. Will not happen again. Pyrope 06:33, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pyrope, I'm not stupid - I do know who that above comment was directed to apart from Buc. And by the way, I don't have the "oh really?" response, I just get on with the edit, as I have been doing on the PR. If you could just take a second to think, it doesn't matter whether it's a Japanese toilet or Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion, how did it get to FA, hey? Normal subjects can get to FA. Just because there weren't any "major" events in it it doesn't mean it cannot get to FA. If you tell me what to improve, then yes, I'll go to improve it. If you don't, then, well that's 110% your choice. On a side note, sorry for putting this on your talk page Mark83. Davnel03 08:08, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: BAE[edit]

You will certainly get comments from me, I absolutely promise. Whether they're good or bad comments remains to be seen, but I'd be far more likely to put money on the former than the latter. -- Kicking222 21:32, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Brabham BT19[edit]

Hi Mark - any chance you could take a look over Brabham BT19 and let me know what you think? It's on the short side for an FA, and I'm still trying to get hold of some pics, but I think it's quite a clear article at least, although I'm not sure how much interest the details of (for example) BT19's rear suspension will really be to a wider audience....
