PJ Patterson image[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you are the person who uploaded the image of PJ Patterson. I also noticed the google watermark on the image, and the fact that the file has no information about copyright. Could you supply the information please? Thanks. Guettarda 13:03, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Tony Blair[edit]

Why do you keep reverting to the 10 year old image of Tony Blair? That is a copyrighted non-free image and shouldn't be used at Wikipedia, especially not when there is a free (and also much newer) image available. /Jebur 1 July 2005 21:54 (UTC)

Unsourced quote removal[edit]

Hello Cmc0,

Regarding your removal of a Paul Martin quote, citing the reason as it being unsourced; are there two metrics at use in determining which unsourced quotes will be removed, and which will not? I cannot help but notice that an existing, unsourced quote escaped your editorial scrutiny. Please feel free to advise me on any relevant policies, and procedures regarding selective, unsourced information removal.

I thank you for your time.

Best regards,

Ray --Daystrom 22:52, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Moving pages[edit]

Always move pages by using the special move button in the top of the page. Don't cut and paste text to a new page. When you do such (like you did for FCC), the page editing history is left, and easily lost in the previous location. Such is unfortunate because then people get inaccurate information on who has written a page. Attribution is required by GNU Free Documentation License. If you can't move a page, then contact an administrator. Now I had to contact an admin to correct your mistake, which I had discoverd by a sheer luck. -Hapsiainen 16:40, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Orleans ray nagin.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Shanel 19:11, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You uploaded Image:CoachK.jpg but did not cite a source or state its copyright status. If you would, please edit the image's page to reflect this information. If the information is not provided, the image may be deleted seven days from now. Thank you. --Durin 14:55, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Instead of reverting, I will try and explain what is going on. The reason why I replaced this photo with Image:Ariel Sharon.jpg is that the latter image is from the United States Government, which puts their work into the public domain upon creation, if it was made during official work. From what I was told, fair use images should be limited as much as possible, so that was why I replaced Image:Isharon.jpg with the image from the US Government. While it is good that Image:Isharon.jpg is sourced and it's fair use claim is cited, but an image in the public domain, IMHO, should be used instead of a fair use image. Regards, Zach (Sound Off) 05:07, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. While I did not get my reply from the Kenesant, I found a photo at http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/MFAArchive/2000_2009/2003/2/Ariel+Sharon.htm. Do you wish to use this? Personally, I will like to rename this image to Image:Ariel Sharon.jpg, but I want to wait to see what you think. Zach (Sound Off) 05:40, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing, will it be ok to delete Image:Isharon.jpg? Zach (Sound Off) 05:51, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The photo you uploaded at Image:Ariel Sharon.jpg is the same photo that is above this post. There is a copy at the Commons already for some reason, so the image is still present. Also, the photo you uploaded has a poor quality, so that was why I reverted. Zach (Smack Back) Fair use policy 23:43, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am going to assume that you changed the Liberals up to 27 because the CP story today erroneously reports that the standings are 27-27. Here is another news article with the correct information. The Liberals won 26 seats in the last election, picked one up in a Nov. by-election but then lost one when one of their members sat as an indpendent in January. - Jord 20:29, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Str Mar.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Str Mar.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Blair EUPres 010705 Logo,0.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Blair EUPres 010705 Logo,0.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Image:Ed Rendell.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ed Rendell.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok 22:47, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

KS Gov[edit]

Hello, I was looking at your page on Kansas Gov. Sebelius. It is currently being tagged for deletion. Since you clearly went through the effort of contacting the governor's office or another agency for this image, it would be a shame if that happened. The tag that you placed on this image is incorrect. Change it, and everything will be good, ok? Basically, you've just gotta declare whether the gov't released this image into the public domain for you or whether it is a copyrighted image that allowed you to use as long as your sources were sighted. Please fix it, so the photo stays online. VitaleBaby 04:38, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:20050804-116.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 21:44, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Barak Ehud.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Barak Ehud.jpg.

Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I noticed you uploaded the image Image:BeebeOfficialPicSmall.jpg with a fair use rationale. I've tagged this image as replaceable fair use since it violates WP's first fair use criterion. --tomf688 (talk - email) 02:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Peretz amir.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Peretz amir.jpg.

Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 08:27, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tim Kaine photo[edit]

Photos from virginia.gov are not public domain, nor most photos released by U.S. states. Please do not tag them as PD-USGov, since that is simply not the case. In case you have any doubt, I emailed the Virginia government a while ago regarding this issue for my own curiosity and received this response:

"...all photos of the governor which appear on his site are
copyrighted by the Commonwealth of Virginia -- and therefore the state's
copyright policy does apply: 'Any digital alteration, manipulation, or
dissemination of these photos is strictly prohibited. Unauthorized
reproduction, distribution, or exhibition for commercial or political
purposes may violate federal laws.' In other words, commercial and
non-educational uses are not kosher."

So please avoid using State Government photos. Thanks. --tomf688 (talk - email) 01:38, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violation[edit]

Please do not upload photographs that are copyrighted by others and claim that they are re-usable under the GFDL, as you did with Image:OMalleySpeech.jpg. Such actions are considered vandalism. The next time you upload a photograph with said inaccuracies, you risk being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Consider using public domain image sources rather than risking legal action against Wikipedia by uploading copyright violations. --Tom (talk - email) 15:32, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:AlGoreWin.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AlGoreWin.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:30, 9 April 2007 (UTC). Per your actions on images Image:CONRAD GREGG.jpg and Image:CONRAD BUDGET.jpg, do not remove {{nsd}} or other templates of similar nature, such as {{nld}} or {{nrd}}, without providing what they are requesting. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 21:44, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Kufuor2004.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kufuor2004.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 22:10, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Ministers of the Ghanaian Government listed at Redirects for discussion[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Ministers of the Ghanaian Government. Since you had some involvement with the Ministers of the Ghanaian Government redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so.  — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  04:07, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Total-petrol-station.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
