no flags on the gates (2004)[edit]

In modern slalom events (world cup, olympics, etc) there are no flags on the gates. Rather, they are just poles. I don't enough about Arnold Lunn and everything else to change the article, but i'm pretty sure its obsolete. lommer 00:51, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)

interwiki links (2006)[edit]

Can anyone determine whether these interwiki links should really go onto the Slalom page instead of here? Because half the interwiki plain "slalom" links are here & half are there.

Telemark dialect of Norwegian (2007)[edit]

I added that slalåm comes from the Telemark dialect of Norwegian, since both the words "sla" and "låm" are not understood by most Norwegians, and certainly not used in mainstream Norwegian.

Also, I think that it could be right to say that the origin (in its early form) is from Telemark, but the sport as known today originated in the alphs during the early 20th century.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.202.102.70 (talk) 21:08, 31 January 2007

Turn of the Century[edit]

At this time, seven years into the new century, there are a vast number of adults, actually all adults, who grew up with "turn of the century" meaning the year 1900. Now that we have gone through another "turn of the century" and ambiguity creeps in.

I deduce that the phrase in this article, refers to the year 2000 but I am not sure.

Could someone who knows please make this clear.

See Also links - lists of medalists? (2014)[edit]

I reformatted the "See Also" section per the syntax below, but question whether or not it's necessary or appropriate to include links to lists of Olympic and Paralympic medalists in the event in the See Also section?

==See also==

I looked at MOS and it suggests that links already wikilinked in the main article shouldn't be in "See Also" section but I can see the utility in collecting them for quick navigating at conclusion of article. What do people think? JDanek007Talk 20:07, 24 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

parallel slalom[edit]

It is redirected to slalom BUT THERE IS NOT a single word abut that new race format. And it's not the same as parallel giant slalom. Difference between the two should also be covered. 95.178.215.9 (talk) 10:22, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Glossary[edit]

The article should include a short glossary defining the terms commonly used to talk about slalom courses (e.g., "hairpin", "flush", "offset"), explaining how the skier is expected to respond to them in context of a course. 207.180.169.36 (talk) 00:48, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request to add more explanation on the picture in “Course” section (to the right)[edit]

I am trying to understand what is the purpose of those double sticks (blue and red) stuck almost at the same spot every few times. Dost17 (talk) 07:39, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Check out the expanded caption, which reflects the accompanying text. HopsonRoad (talk) 14:53, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for your answer. Let me get this right; do you say that gate number 3 (red) is Vertical and all the rest are Horizontal ? Thanks. Dost17 (talk) 15:25, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't say so. But that's a correct interpretation. HopsonRoad (talk) 15:36, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I can sleep now 😊. Dost17 (talk) 15:43, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
