Well, basically, you just edit it, and when yours is used, a little "You have new messages" bar pops up. Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy it. If you need more help on getting around, you can try Wikipedia:Help desk, or read Wikipedia:FAQ. The best guide on how to edit is probably Wikipedia:Tutorial. Good luck! P.S. You can sign your name with three tildes, like this. ~~~. 4 tildes adds a timestamp.

Thanks[edit]

Hi Meelar, Thanks for the info. My comments were actually just an expeirment to see what it would look like and where the text went. I find it a little confusing that I have both a discussion page and a talk page. But apparently they are one and the same even though accessed differently....

I see Meelar already gave you some links. Here are some more links that you might find useful in writing articles.

In particular, I suggest looking at Cite your sources, Verifiability, and Neutral Point of View. I think I basically agree with you that there is a long history of injustices against American Indians, however the best-written articles avoid using polemical language and making original arguments. Present verifiable facts to form a narrative and summarize existing arguments and research from reputable sources. In particular, personal experiences are problematic to use as the basis citation in an encyclopedia. Assertions needs to be independently verifiable.

However, I'm really not very knowledgeable about American Indian history. So I might be able to help by offering some stylistic advice in review of something you write, I don't think I can help much in drafting new material.

Feel free to ask me anything the links and talk pages don't answer. olderwiser 17:36, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I see your article Americian Indian. I'm not American; it's possible I'm missing some subtlety here, but is the name perhaps misspelled? American Indian (without the second 'i' in Americian) is a redirect to Native American which does discuss some of the same issues.--gadfium 23:48, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)

nope no subtlety, just a poor speller that caused me to not find the page... ErikFP (talk) 06:02, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply on my talk page. I'm not sure I can give you any useful advice except to discuss it on the Native American talk page, which you're already doing. --gadfium 08:49, 28 Jun 2004 (UTC)
