Why does the idiotic spelling "Camoens" appear in so many articles on Wikipedia? It's as if people had never seen a tilde before in their lives. "Camões" is perfectly good English. I recommend that "Camões Prize" be used as the primary title of this article. Shorne 06:22, 7 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I've changed the spelling in this article (and will check out if there are any other instances of it around), but I don't know how to change the title. Any ideas? (I'm a relative newbie here, so I'm still getting the hang of things.) --Luna Whistler 21:25, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • As an answer to Shorne, the idiotic spelling should be the spelling used in English. That spelling is the proper one in Portuguese (archaic in the case), the ~ in Portuguese is just an "n". unless, English is now rulled by modern Portuguese ortographic rules. I don't thing that's the case. ;) -Pedro 22:28, 23 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
