Doesn't the fact that a billion or so Christians consider Jesus to be God deserve a mention in the opening paragraph? DJ Clayworth 20:37, 17 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think it does; in fact, I think failing to mention such a central fact right away constitutes a failing in the article. LeoO3 23:23, 17 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

disambig line[edit]

Until everyone who calls themselves Christians comes to some kind of consensus about what exactly is the "Christian faith", wouldn't it be better to say This article is about Jesus Christ, the central figure of Christianity. For other uses of Jesus, please see Jesus (disambiguation) than This article is about Jesus Christ, founder of the Christian faith. For other uses of Jesus, please see Jesus (disambiguation) as it says now? I foresee editwars over this one little line, all about John, Paul, Peter, Martin Luther, John Wesley, Marcion, Augustine, and (here's where it gets really sticky...) Joseph Smith. Tomer TALK 22:30, May 22, 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. I think many theologians don't think Jesus was the founder by defintion of the world founder. Not sure about that last though. Still, neutral langauge is better than not.--Tznkai 23:01, 26 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

culture of the artist?[edit]

the caption on the 11th century orthodox portrait of Jesus says that his physical appearance -- his features and skin tone -- are generally depicted as belonging to the culture of the artist. i believe culture and race or ethnicity are being confused here. since the earliest culture we have written records of, the sumerians, the culture was not considered isomorphic with race, and many prominent cultures subsequently, including many of the mediterranean cultures of Jesus' time. --Il hamster 07:53, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Why no link?[edit]

Why did user:neutrality remove the link in the Jesus page to the Jesus/Rewrite page? --ClemMcGann 18:50, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC)
