I have added a reference to a very funny short story by James Thurber that is about an old Reo entitled, "The Car We Had to Push." If you prefer to format it in some other manner, that's fine with me, but I think it's very relevant. Andacar (talk)

Rather than add fiction to this page, such as writing from Thurber, I searched this page to find facts and information. I am personally looking for information about the REO Speedwagon, as my Grandfather had one in England during the 1930's. The references to bands who have taken their name from the REO company is an interesting fact, and should be kept in the article, even if it is such an obscure one such as "Diamond Rio", who couldn't even get the spelling right! On many wiki pages about actual events/items/people/etc., there is often a spot for something like 'references in popular culture'. Having these things mentioned in an article when someone is looking for strictly 'facts' is not really a problem. Green dump truck in gallery[edit]

In this shot the grill and name are not clear. There is also a head on shot of this same truck where REO is clearly visible, but it's a bad shot.

I believe this is post WWII because of the cab, but can't ref it. Truck appears "hot-rodded", front axle has modern, oversize wheels/tires, rear may, also. Sammy D III (talk) 22:38, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation?[edit]

I've heard old car buffs say: "ReeOhh", yet been chastised for not saying it alphabetically, like the band (Arhh--Eee--Ohhh). Yet the marque does not seem to be initialized. Which is right?

Also wasn't REO, like G/M and Cadillac, one of the first to get an electric starter, in 1913?174.18.28.66 (talk) 00:23, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure about the timing of the electric starter, but I believe pronouncing it as one word, even then, was the accepted version. The band did take their name from the vehicle, but since they are known to pronounce each letter, that would be acceptable in that case.
