Poem[edit]

The Japanese version of this page disputes the attribution of the Matsushima poem.

True, it's not a part of Oku no Hosomichi itself... will add a note, thanks. Jpatokal 07:39, 25 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Tsunami[edit]

Does anybody know how much damage was caused in Matsushima? I don't know if the angle of the bay might have protected it somewhat. I visited once in 2007 and hate to think of that waterfront being obliterated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.61.52.154 (talk) 15:12, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have been tweeting about it at my twitter stream. It seems Matsushima is largely safe through some miracle. (The word miracle was used by a Japanese twitterer.) A temple is used as refugee shelter. The nearby military airbase is heavily damaged. However, I do not have any verifiable sources, just Japanese twitter streams and photos from the place. With Wikipedia's current guidelines, that kind of info cannot go into the article, I think, no matter how true it is. --Mlewan (talk) 10:59, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Good news. I added an NPR citation of little damage and removed the notice. ★NealMcB★ (talk) 15:51, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
