Factual accuracy[edit]

I'm not certain about the accuracy of some of the facts presented in this article. I lived for many years on Lucas Valley Road in Marin County and have twice been to Skywalker Ranch. Firstly George Lucas does not live at Skywalker Ranch, but rather in nearby San Anselmo. I know this because his address is listed in the Marin Academy directory, where his children go to high school. Secondly, ILM operated out of an office in San Rafael before moving to the new studios in the Presidio in San Francisco, although Skywalker Sound was based at Skywalker Ranch before the move.

It might be worth noting in the article that although the entire complex was built by Lucas since the success of Star Wars, it was built to resemble an old vineyard, going so far as to grow grapes on the property. There is also a fire station with at least two fire engines bearing the logo of the Skywalker Fire Department. This fire department services some of the surrounding area, which is relatively remote from the more populated regions of Marin County to the east.

I recall from living in the area that there was controversy over Lucas' plan to purchase surrounding ranches, but I rememberl there being assurances that only a small fraction of the land would be developed. Is it possible that the figures were reversed in the article? Lucas has also developed a large complex further east on his property at the peak of the hill between Lucas Valley and Nicasio. I don't know what operations are based there, but it consists of at least two large buildings that were built within the past 5 years. They can be seen to the northwest when driving by the Big Rock at the top of the hill (a local landmark of minor importance) on Lucas Valley Road. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.174.8.105 (talkcontribs) 20:50, 4 May 2005.

Presidio move?[edit]

Didn't the presidio move happen in 2005? I'm sure they were building it before then, but I didn't think they actually move this year? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by R343L (talkcontribs) 23:34, 13 July 2005.

majority?[edit]

This article sounds a bit like a fanboy's guess at what the ranch is like. The props displayed in the main house are FAR from the majority of props. The majority of the props are housed either off-site or in the prop and model archive on the ranch. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 159.37.7.254 (talkcontribs) 15:41, 18 October 2005.

Apparently by 2011 this was all fixed. 01:25, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Gingermint (talk) 01:25, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

General question[edit]

If the Ranch isn't open to the public why is there a restaurant there? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kardworx (talkcontribs) 01:46, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Restaurant is for employees, guests, and personnel attached to productions which rent the facilities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.223.130.60 (talk) 19:03, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have a photos of the maps given to guests. I'd love to add it to the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.143.133.252 (talk) 02:35, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong categories[edit]

Please note that George Lucas purchased the first parcel in 1978... but no building was erected that year. Thus, the article doesn't stipulate yet the year when the first building was erected and, as a consequence, the following categories are wrong if fitted in this article:

This should be addressed, but I don't know how. Kind regards. Kintaro (talk) 13:25, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

100 million attributed to WSJ[edit]

We should beware of WP:CIRCULAR references for this. The original source for the info is from http://george.lucas.net [1], which is in archive.org. The Perry writes that the WSJ article came out shortly before his trip. If I'm reading it correctly, then we're looking for an '86 WSJ article. --Hipal (talk) 16:41, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
