Merging Singles[edit]

I don't believe any of the singles should be merged, because they are seperate CD's and other artists don't have their singles merged WestJet

I couldn't find any evidence that "The Getaway" and "Weird" were released as singles anywhere, so I've redirected the articles here. Extraordinary Machine 14:30, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On a related note, I've just removed this slab of unreferenced text from the article:

"The Getaway" was released as a promotional single for the album in North America. It was originally slated for a full single release in October 2004, but was postponed to November, then January 2005, and then March. It was then cancelled and Duff's record label, Hollywood Records, told her to start recording a new album (which later became Most Wanted, 2005). Executives at her label said that Hilary Duff hadn't sold as well as her second album Metamorphosis (2003), and that she should release a new album instead of promoting her third.

Hopefully we can cite a source for this if it's true. Extraordinary Machine 14:32, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, okay, I've found sources saying that these songs (as well as "I Am") were radio singles. I've also provided a reference for some of the claims about cancelled single releases. Extraordinary Machine 03:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Slant Review[edit]

Why is the "professional" review of Slant added in the reviews list? If you read the review it is filled with profanity and surely cannot be accepted as a "professional" review, I have removed it. Tipexcom2 18:08, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The presence of profanity in a review should not preclude it from being considered "professional"; the managers of Metacritic.com believe Slant is a "professional" enough source to include reviews from it on their website. The review gave the album one stars out of five - of course it will include strongly expressed opinions. Extraordinary Machine 20:47, 22 February 2007 (UTC)j[reply]

Worldwide sales figure removed[edit]

I've just removed the worldwide sales figure supported by http://buenavistarecords.go.com/hilaryduff/index2.html (Duff's official website), which states "Hilary’s #1 solo debut CD "Metamorphosis sold 4 times platinum, followed by her self –titled album and “Most Wanted” both of which sold 3 million records." It doesn't say Hilary Duff and Most Wanted sold three million copies each worldwide (because they say Metamorphosis "sold 4 times platinum", they're probably referring to combined U.S.-only sales for the two albums anyway), and what's more, record labels often use the term "records" to refer to combined album and single sales. I'd be very careful about taking what you read in official website biographies and other material originating from the record company at face value; usually what they do is a) exaggerate sales figures, typically by reporting numbers of shipments to retailers as "sales", and/or b) write the material ambiguously enough that it could be misinterpreted as saying something more positive (e.g. a higher sales figure) than is actually true. Robert Christgau's review[edit]

Can someone include this in the reviews? Link: http://www.robertchristgau.com/get_artist.php?name=Hilary+Duff TheKillerAngel 20:15, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

singles[edit]

Do radio singles even count as real singles? From my current knowledge, there are only two known singles from this album which are Fly and SWOM (Aus only). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.85.133.214 (talk) 06:26, 1 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HilaryDuff-Fly.ogg[edit]

Image:HilaryDuff-Fly.ogg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

GA Reassessment[edit]

This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Hilary Duff (album)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

I will do the GA Reassessment on this article as part of the GA Sweeps project.

My first note is that there are 9 dead links in the references section, they are: 22, 32, 34, 37, 41, 42, 43, 52, 54. 19 links to a main page for a website but nothing specific to what it is citing. This should be changed.

Overall the article is fairly solid. Is there an updated sales figure? The article states 1.8 million copies since February 2007, anything after that? This is an important request since the Charts and certification table has it selling more than 2,000,000 copies. Ref 1 has no publisher or accessdate.

Overall it's fine the two big things would be to repair the dead and indirect links and update the sales figures. I'll hold it for a week pending fixes. H1nkles (talk) 21:31, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A week is up and it does not appear as though the links were repaired. Given the number of dead links I am going to have to delist the article due to the fact that it does not meet the current GA Criteria for references. H1nkles (talk) 15:04, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Hilary Duff (album)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Hilary Duff (album)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "CAPIF":

  • From Metamorphosis (Hilary Duff album): Camara Argentina de Productores de Fonogramas y Videogramas (2003). "Argentinian certification". capif.org.ar. Retrieved 2010-03-06.
  • From Dignity (album): Camara Argentina de Productores de Fonogramas y Videogramas (2007). "Argentinian certification". capif.org.ar. Retrieved 2010-03-06.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 20:47, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
