The Post With No Meaning[edit]

Hello! Passing by here I thought I'd use my first edit to change "know as" to known as. Ciao! --

alliance with gray[edit]

this article says that the gray form an alliance with the tan in the end of the original PC army men game, in order to create "weapons of mass destruction." This NEVER HAPPENED. In the original game, the gray and tan are shooting at each other right up until the end of the game. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:182:C901:4902:C1FE:1CFF:14B7:4712 (talk) 04:55, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Army Men 3D[edit]

I was an engineer on Army Men 3D Playstation and know for a fact that it wasn't a direct port of the PC version. There were significant gameplay differences between the two as well. I'm removing references to that and will put something in when I think of a better phrase. jayinbmore 19:10, 13 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

On Army Men 3D can someone please explain how to use the secret key on the multiplayer level 'Clean up this mess', if you look outside the screen you can see a whole secret area, with loads of weapons etc to collect. How do you use the key and get to this area? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.10.119.131 (talk) 16:09, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Final Army Men Game[edit]

Can someone please add some more info on Sarge's War? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.227.140.46 (talk • contribs) .

Expansion?[edit]

Could someone please expand the Entire article.~~Sargent Teff Thanks for expanding it!Sargent Teff 00:36, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Game missing[edit]

Where's Green Rouge?

Army Men 3D is also missing from "The Series" heading.

Trivia Question[edit]

Ok, looking at the last item in the trivia section it mentions Colonel Grimm saluting Sarge first in RTS and Sarge returning the salute, going on to mention that should be in the reverse order. My question is should it actually be in the reverse order? As Grimm outranks Sarge, I'd normally agree. But I was pretty certain I knew of a real world instance in which a higher officer saluted someone of a lower rank. That being someone who has one the Medal of Honor. So I looked up the article to confirm whether I was remembering things correctly. If you look under the Authorities and privileges section of the article, among other items you get the following paragraph:

The Medal of Honor confers special privileges on its recipients both by tradition and by law. By tradition, all other soldiers, sailors, and airmen, even higher-ranking officers all the way up to the President of the United States, initiate the salute. By law, awardees have several benefits:

Look at the second sentence. Traditionally recipients of the Medal of Honor are saluted first and they get to return the salute, even if they are out ranked. From the games we know a lot about Sarge's actions. But what we don't know is if there is a Green Army version of the Medal of Honor which has the same tradition. If so, Grimm would be more likely to salute Sarge first. -annonymous 7/10/06

Rename[edit]

I think we should rename this to "Army Men (Game)". Right now if you search for Army men you go to the article about the toy soldiers and if you search Army Men you go to the article about the game and the only differences between these two articles is that the m is capitilized.--Taida 02:45, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What about Army Men (series)? Because the article is about the series, shouldn't this be the name? 199.224.118.64 17:49, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea how to actually implement the changes, (Wiki noob ^_^) but my solution would be to change the article, Army Men (series) to Army Men (game series). Kelpie K 04:04, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay[edit]

There needs to be more discussion of gameplay. Are the games real-time or turn-based? Etc. SharkD 01:22, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm reprinting my comment from army men (toy).

In the article, it says that 3DO made a series of "real-time strategy" games. I've played almost every single army men game, and I wouldn't call ANY of the games real-time strategy... but then again, I can't think of what type they are at all... any one got any suggestions? Maybe action-strategy? You control almost exclusively "Sarge", so would it be an action-RPG? Help me out here and we can change it.

I wouldn't call it real-time STRATEGY, now that I think about it, but it definitely is a real-time game. Maybe then, a real-time action game? It's definitely a unique game series, so it's hard to classify. Kelpie K 04:46, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Series[edit]

Who deleted all my cleanup work on The Series? It made it easier to read as the games were arranged by release date wheras now (and before my cleanup) there is a cluster of games below Army Men: Sarge's War. --Indie.Bones 11:42, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Indie.Bones[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Armymen3DO.jpg[edit]

Image:Armymen3DO.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Clean Up[edit]

I fixed the "Sarge's War" section a bit. I don't think that "crackhead," gratuitous use of swear words, or poorly done detailed descriptions of the weapons were needed. I left some, but I'll take it out if there aren't objections. Sean ODuibher (talk) 03:31, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Metal Weapons?[edit]

I have Army Men RTS and none of the toy soldiers had metal weapons, why is it listed in the article under criticism? Davidac18643 (talk) 15:11, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Besides, What's wrong with metal weapons?!? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.38.221.152 (talk) 17:13, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to Above[edit]

It is not necessarily referring to the fact that the guns are metal, but that they are of a metallic color, as opposed to the standard green, plastic looking weapons in the other games.

Also, why are several Army Men RTS vehicles being left out of the vehicle list? The dumptruck and bulldozer are both omitted from the list. Mbacon (talk) 23:07, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Air Attack[edit]

Can anyone tell me if AA: Air Tactics for PC and AA: Air Attack for N64 are the same game? Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.47.142.246 (talk) 20:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello AA mean Anti Aircraft but you heard only AA on the strategic games if you play as call of duty or army men game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Unisob (talkcontribs) 16:27, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that; I juxtaposed AM with AA. What I meant to ask was, is Air Tactics and Air Combat the same game? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.107.231.21 (talk) 00:39, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline[edit]

I Am very concerned with the actual timeline (for example, green rouge came out after both sarge's heroes games, but we know that green rouge takes place DURING the origonal sarge's heroes.) If anybody would be kind enough to help me in writing up an article clearing up the chronolgy of the games, much appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.222.210.180 (talk) 04:06, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to clean it up[edit]

I made a lot of changes to try and clean this page up. I made grammar and spelling corrections, deleted unencyclopedic language in the article, and because trivia sections are discouraged, I merged some of it into relevant parts of the article, and deleted the unnecessary parts, among other small things. Most of the article was originally written as if it were a review of the series, and included a lot of personal opinions. I tried to correct that.

I know there's still a lot that needs to be done, for example, some of the games have very short descriptions, while others have much longer ones. But, I haven't played most of the games, so maybe someone who has can try to fix that problem. wikiuser12345 (talk) 04:28, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Misfortune[edit]

Do we need to include Soldiers of Misfortune on the list? It is not part of the official universe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.60.229.143 (talk) 13:37, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning Up Criticism Section[edit]

Currently the third sentence of the second paragraph of the section makes little sense since the next sentence never clearly follows up on delivering an example of inconsistency in the time period of the setting.

The final sentence of the Criticism section (with formatting added her for emphasis) reads "Many of the games, such as the Sarge's Heroes games, employ World War II and Vietnam war era weaponry (Ex. the M16 assault rifle and the M2 flamethrower), whereas the Air Attack/Air Combat games use helicopters from the Vietnam War era."

Since Vietnam era is mentioned in both cases, and is the only era mentioned in the latter case, this is very confusing. Either a clearer example should be provided or the third and fourth sentences of the second paragraph should be removed.

Copy edit[edit]

Hello!

I tried to do the copy-editing part of the whole cleanup, as this article was tagged for it. I'm not sure if I did a good-enough job to remove the copyedit tag. Could someone please review it?

Oh, and that sentence mentioned above really doesn't make sense. I don't know the Army Men series, alas I don't know what the writer wanted to say. So I didn't touch it.

Old merge (merge from) proposal[edit]

There was a template from 2009 suggesting merge from List of Army Men series characters. It's been there for so long, with no discussion here, and that article is pretty long, that I am removing the tag. We can discuss it here if there is interest in the merge occurring. "Fan Made Games" section[edit]

Currently, there is a section in this article titled "Fan made games" that includes a single entry to "Army Men 3". The only source is to the game's website. Has this specific title received any coverage in reliable, secondary sources? If not, I do not think it merits inclusion. VQuakr (talk) 03:41, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Answer: I don't know where to put this so I thought I should just put it here instead and if its wrong let you guys place it in the right place.

There are/were videos and articles discussing the game (some weapons are no longer available).

Here are some sources that list and reference the game, hope this helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1tIeCJsRLo http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=7709&game=Army%20Men%20III http://www.computerbild.de/download/Army-Men-III-10188655.html http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/armymeniii/ http://www.gamershell.com/news_147009.html http://www.tauniverse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43460 http://www.porse.cz/Army_Men_III.html http://zandronum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2568 http://www.gameland.ru/videos/46617/ http://chomikuj.pl/demorion66/*e2*99*9e+GRY-PC+*e2*99*9e/*e2*9e*a8Army+Men+III

It was also on the Small Dev Talk reviewer website article released on April 1st (specifically state it was NOT an April Fools joke at the beginning of the page), but the website no longer seems to work. I see youtube and some other clearly unreliable sources on this list. Can you focus on quality rather than quantity and identify the best two sources? The ones I spot-checked were not useful. VQuakr (talk) 18:10, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't feel this fan-made game should be placed here. Other titles don't have such sections for incredibly small fan-made games. This fan-made game doesn't seem to have a significant impact to warrant this. Also, this is written in such a poor manner; no sources for specific claims (such as quality), misspelling and also misleading information such as "...final installment to the original Army Men trilogy." Considering this is an unofficial game, how can this be the case? Overall I feel that the developer(s) of this fan-made game have placed this edit in here in order to gain attention to their product. Wesley (talk) 17:27, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Racist bullshit?[edit]

A couple references in the Characters section seem pretty bizarre.

"Armand is one of the two (possibly three if Xhado) black soldiers in order to provide a healthy racial mixture." Wat?????

"Although slow, Tyke is a great soldier because of his massive hit points. He is also black." What is this shit???

Secret key for army men 3d[edit]

◾In Army Men 3D on the multiplayer level 'Clean up this Mess' there is a secret key which opens a secret part of the level. However it has never been known how you actually use the secret key and enter the secret part of the level.

Can anyone solve this?Armymen3d (talk) 20:15, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Later mobile games (last one was Mobile Ops)[edit]

Clearly not official. Common, its not the firslt nor last time copyright violated games released on G.Play store. PlayStore cannot he used as a source itself. And today any Army Men references are removed from renamed Toy Wars game (or Toy War Army Men Strike title). Another one Army Men game f4om them removed entirely from store. There is indeed inspired blue character and stolen Sarge. That fact itself not make it official game. There is more even ArmyMen refer copyright violation games, that was not the only one. Although i cant find now such referenced - game or references "looksalike" logos removed. And Toy Wars/Army Men strike was released in Dec '16 according to G.Play (dont forget to put &gl=us in url) which is still can be later date for same store ID item and earlier it can have alternate ID. While Wikipedia is not so good source for dates/platforms and companies info about video games same as players themself (eg Crash Bandicoot never was and never was stated its Sony product instead of Universal Int) - such mention of copyright violation game made for money is a dangerous information. Yeah, lets me said that - it is gery P2W "free" games. Even if not self-promoting it is still promoting and incorrect info. Both arguments are highly important to restore Mobile Ops as latest.

Fan-made although as well try to promote them as official title at least noticable as fan-made uncommercial remake (which they try to oppose they are bruh). It should be stay. And already in proper condition.

Mobile Ops was last one licenced game... it was, right? Again must be doublechecked by 1st and 3rd party sources it was licensed by direct copyright statements (if im right there was Take2 references). 95.84.218.44 (talk) 00:04, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
