Major editing[edit]

I'm actually a avid reader in Counter-Terrorism, Military History, Global Conflicts, and etc etc. I'll be trying to add some major changes for this article soon. (Nov. 29, 2005) The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eugenius (talk • contribs) .

HRT as part of the FBI only select from agents therefore the raw material is amoung the best as my commander tought me "the cream rises to the top" buy the way do you seriously think any human would shoot a nursing mother theres a lot of anti-goverment propeganda which is out and out Bull The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.1.224.12 (talk • contribs) .

Intentionally or unintentionally, Mrs. Weaver was indeed shot by an FBI agent. JG 10:02, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article Should Be Longer[edit]

I would imagine there is a lot more information out there about the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team. I'm currently trying to research this, so if anyone has anything that can make this article a little longer or a little stronger, it'd make me happy. :) In the meantime I might take a stab at some editing here. Fair use rationale for Image:Fbihrt.jpg[edit]

Image:Fbihrt.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merge[edit]

Propose Merge with FBI SWAT, i know it is different but it can be a section in it.--Conor Fallon (talk) 23:37, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree: The FBI SWAT teams are part-time teams that deploy on an as-needed basis. While they are well trained, they are not at the same level as the full-time HRT. I see no harm in leaving the articles seperate and no benefit in merging them. Niteshift36 (talk) 04:04, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Review[edit]

Anyone want to review the article and give any criticisms ? Aaron mcd (talk) 00:23, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comparable units section.[edit]

I keep watching this list grow and don't understand why. I sampled over half of the listed units and didn't find a list of comparable units on their page. Nor did I see connections to the FBI HRT in most cases. So why is it here? A list page of these types of units already exists. I'm removing the list and hope that someone will discuss why it should be here before they just revert the removal. Niteshift36 (talk) 21:49, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agree: Your 100% right, the HRT is not military nor has it any direct connections with most of those units, perhaps the editor could make a new article about comparable counter-terror units. Aaron mcd (talk) 23:36, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What change did it revert? I am pretty sure that the comparable units sections has been edited out by you. Also, you are right about the List of special police units page, it covers all that info. Aaron mcd (talk) 03:13, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I removed the list. An IP editor reverted it. I removed it again and invited him a second time to participate in the discussion. Niteshift36 (talk) 04:43, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Motto[edit]

If you look at the book referenced for the alternate motto "anytime, anything...whatever", you'll see that that's the motto of the 7th SFG(A), not the HRT. Go here and "search in this book" for "motto". On page 60 is what I'm talking about. --Milkbreath (talk) 02:53, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Simply look at pg. 13 and you will see "Anywhere, Anytime, Anything : FBI Hostage Rescue Team". Also pg. 301. I am going to go ahead and undo your edit, it could be that both the 7th SFG and the HRT have the same mottos, also thanks for all the copyedits. Aaron mcd (talk) 04:33, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Believe it or not, I'm not trying to be a dick, but the fact that the author chose to name his chapter that is no indication of anything. It doesn't say on page 13 or page 301 that "Anywhere, Anytime, Anything" is the motto of the HRT, whereas on page 309 it says, "the HRT's motto, To Save Lives." And the fact that "Anywhere, Anytime, Anything" is the motto of a different organization in the same realm is a strong indication that it cannot be HRT's. (And it's my pleasure to improve articles any way I can.) --Milkbreath (talk) 11:07, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nor am I trying to be a dick :) The fact that another unit has that motto does not mean the HRT can't have it. If you check out page 310 you'll see that while it does not explicitly say the 3 As is a motto, but it definitely refers to it as something the units operates by so if you feel that it should not be listed as a motto, than I will add it in the article someplace, Ill wait for you to respond before I edit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aaron mcd (talkcontribs) 20:28, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I found the passage on page 310 that you are referring to. That's the writer talking, not the HRT, although it does seem like he picked that up from the team. It seems like it might be some sort of informal motto that all such groups use, sort of like "Kill 'em all, and let God sort 'em out" for assault teams. I still don't think we have a strong enough connection to include it in the infobox as a motto, though. --Milkbreath (talk) 21:19, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, I'll see if i can find another source, If I don't I'll leave it out of the article. Aaron mcd (talk) 21:47, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Edits (10/1/09)[edit]

I reverted the changes because, that phrase was originally there to distinguish that the HRT was originally created for counter-terror, but has had it's roles expanded upon. However I do agree it could be cleaned up, I'll try to do it (or someone else can) in the near future. Aaron mcd (talk) 23:17, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FBI HRT Parachuting capability[edit]

The FBI has now official stated that the HRT has a jump capability. We should add that in the article now.(03/03/13)

Source: http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2013/february/the-hostage-rescue-team-30-years-of-service

" Operators are able to fast-rope out of helicopters, PARACHUTE with full mission equipment..."

                               OR

If you look at the HRT photo gallery, and look at pics from 13-14/15, it shows operators jumping with headlines saying "Operators train constantly to maintain their skills, which include PARACHUTING" and "HRT operators approach a landing zone during a practice JUMP." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.35.19.17 (talk) 16:56, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
