logarithm

Hello. It seems the slide rule article does not agree with you that John Napier was its inventor. I suspect whoever wrote the sentence about Napier's "invention" meant that Napier "invented" logarithms. Michael Hardy 20:53, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

so I was looking for an alternative proof or explanation. I saw this sentence that didn't seem to make sense, and I thought that what was meant was the invention of the slide rule.

It's used on a talk page, not an article. Look at the discussion there, and you'll understand WHY it's badly drawn and small. Right, I got all the emblems from the respective official websites, and I guess I missed the artifacts in some of them (esp the SAAF emblem). I can't fix it now, because I'm also just about to start varsity exams, but I'll see what I can do in the weeks ahead. Cha! I'm not umXhosa, I am Mosotho, yet I do have a great interest on Kintu linguistics. Check out "my" Sesotho language page. Is it overkill? Or do you think that perhaps all language pages should be that in depth? Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, after all. You have no idea how much trouble I had to go through to implement that page about a year ago!! I know C++ and I'm considering teaching myself Python as well. I was taught Turbo Pascal in High School. Apart from Kintu linguistics I'm also very much interested in Chinese (as opposed to Mandarin - I know the pronunciations of a few characters, though) and Devanagari (Sanskrit) and I can read quite a bit of religious classical (Qur'anic) 'Arabic. I live in Meyerton in Rhawudeni about 10km outside of Vereeniging. What? does "Tebello Thejane" sound like isiXhosa, dude? Xa ufun'ukutheta nam about anything at all (we seem to have many common interests) that would be great!!! But be warned - my internet access is currently not exactly guaranteed, so don't be surprised if I don't come back to Wikipedia for another year or so. I'm not officially back. Dude, as an isiXhosa student you obviously know that there is not such thing as "Xhosa". The closest word to "zulu" is the Nguni word "izulu/lizulu" meaning sky/thunder/heaven/clouds. There is no such thing as "sotho" either. Hell, since "Sesotho" can only mean the language/culture of Basotho there's no reason why it should even be qualified with the suffix "language".

I know the Sesotho page sucks. I lied: I haven't been away from Wikipedia for 1 year, it's actually been 2 years. I simply have had very little opportunity to do something about it! I also need to fix various other pages I worte or edited, like Batlokoa. Batlokwa are not Basotho. The "third" major Basotho clan is Bakhatla. Batlokwa are actually a Northern Sesotho speaking nation distinct from Moshoeshoe's Basotho (like Balodedu - Modjadji's people, and Bapedi). I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that, but the really scary thing is that no one has done anything about it! I even found a link to it on the meager Basotho! Crazy!

Dude, as soon as I get decent Internet access I'll do a whole lot of fixing up, that's for sure!! 8-D Till then, backoff from editing content you know (in your own words) "nothing" about, ight?

I forgot my bloody password - can you believe that?? Perhaps you and I should stop "fighting" over useless stuff. This is not what I had in mind when I said "Xa ufun'ukuthetha nam", and while we we're bickering about whatever, hundreds of articles on Africa on Wikipedia are currently fermenting in a cesspool of misinformation (including Sesotho). It makes me more so frustratred that I can't do anything about it!!

For example, as far as I can tell, there is no one in Africa who practices Animism, yet I've seen many entries on various "tribes" saying they do! Traditional African Religion as practised by almost the whole of Africa is Monotheist, no matter what European Anthoropologists (?) may have told you. Ask the people of Africa - they will tell the idea of "Everything is a god" is completely foreign to them. Yet why are Wikipedians perpertuating the 300 hundred year old lie that Africans are Animist? Ask your amaXhosa buddies whether their traditionalist parents/uncles/grandfathers believe that all is god and they'll probly say something like "Yintoni leyi uyithethayo, ngokhu!!??" (or something like that).

I'm African, I know it's a lie, yet I can't do anything about it. ARGH!!

I am writing a book on a dozen right-wing conservative activists in Britain. Needless to say they knew Clive Derby-Lewis very well. What is your view as to why his application to the Commission for amnesty was turned down. After all, he was convicted without a jury, and he did not personally carry our Hani's assassination. Jang Sun-wu

Nae, annyeonghaseyeo. I wasn't sure whether to use Jang Sun-wu or Jang Sun-woo. I can't type Hangul on this machine but I believe that in strict Revised Romanization it would be Jang Seon-woo. Unfortunately I don't think it will be easy to find out his preferred romanization, but redirects are cheap.--ThreeAnswers 07:46, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
