Wonderful contributions to the page! Thanks a bunch and then some! TomStar81 06:05, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Starcraft Categories[edit]

Hello. I have noticed you have been putting Reference and Starcraft category tags on many Starcraft pages. I appreciate your work, but you have re-added Tassader, Arcturus Mengsk and Zeratul to the main Starcraft community, when I had removed them just yesterday. My rationale for removing them is that I think its better if we have a tree structure: i.e.: all articles about characters are in Characters in the StarCraft universe category, which itself is in the Starcraft category. This makes it easier to browse and reduces the cluttering of the main category page. If you disagree, please put a notice on my talk page so we can discuss it, instead of immeadiately putting the category tags back. Phils 06:49, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

StarCraft storylines[edit]

Where did you move the StarCraft storylines to?

User:ShardPhoenix removed the storyline. See his reason for doing so on the talk page Talk:StarCraft Phils 17:39, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)

StarCraft Storyline[edit]

Nice to see you're planning to rework the StarCraft storyline, but are you sure we really need so many articles. I think for example that the Ensalvers storylines do not deserve one article each. Also, I've seen you've been asking what I meant by 'novel style' for quite a while: by 'novel style' I mean a non-neutral, non-factual writing style that is too involved in the events depicted in StarCraft. Also, be sure to create a navigation template between the different story articles, and to remove the one about Starcraft. Phils 19:33, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Can you please wikify your StarCraft storyline articles more vigorously? (e.g. don't assume people know "zerg" just because they arrived on some StarCraft article) Also, I suggest that you start your articles with an introductionary sentence or paragraph explaining that the respective article is about a storyline of the StarCraft computer game series. Links to previous/next episodes might be helpful, too. Rl 21:34, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Hi Phils. I really do need so many articles. As you've noticed, the ones I've written are pretty bad, and the ones I haven't written are even worse. They're going to grow longer over time.

The original Enslavers series has four or so missions in it. They might be added to the Protoss section of the orginal StarCraft storyline but I will start it as a separate article first, as I doubt I can merge them.

I have every intention of creating a template. I haven't done it yet because I don't know how to do it (it would look lame) and I don't know if it's a good idea to do so until the articles look nice. I only linked them to the StarCraft universe category because, after splitting them up, I had trouble finding them.

I don't know about neutral (or non-neutral) but I don't think I'm too involved, not when you can find articles like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dune_Messiah

Will do. I don't know how soon I can do this, however, as each article takes time to do on it's own, even before I make them look good and wikified.

The links are coming, too.

I guess the complaints are that I'm doing this too slowly. I feel like I'm doing this too slowly too, but I have a job and school to deal with.

I am certainly not complaining about contributions to Wikipedia :-). I was just making suggestions for improvements. It's not obvious to the casual observer that and how you are going to polish them. Rl 09:53, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Articles I need to work on[edit]

I made a list of articles I need to work on - it's on my main user page.

Edmund Duke/Zeratul[edit]

Thanks for the heads up. I'm currently looking at the Edmund Duke article and check the storyline articles out. BTW, I really like how you and the other SC storyline contributors have shaped the series of article. We've come a looong way from that crappy story section in the StarCraft article. Cheers. StarCraft articles[edit]

I noticed that you have been doing a lot fo work on the StarCraft storyline articles, and it's great that you're doing this. However, I protest over a few things that you have done. First, I don't agree with your changing of all mentions of Sarah Kerrigan to Infested Kerrigan. Even after she was infested, her name didn't change. Her name is still Sarah Kerrigan.I also don't agree with your merging of the Terran Dominion article into teh Sons of Korhal. If anything, it should be the other way around, and, even better, don't merge them at all. Also, although I appreciate these huge and detailed edits to the Starcraft storylines, they are often too detailed and include unneseccary information that isn't relevant to the plot. Also, could you make sure that you check for typos when you make these huge edits? Also, only use "it's" when it is in the form of a contraction (it is). Otherwise, use its. bob rulz 19:46, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)

Response[edit]

In-game, Kerrigan is referred to as Infested Kerrigan after she has been infested.

I merged the two articles because the Sons of Korhal flowed right into the Terran Dominion. The only difference is the name change.

The information is only as detailed as the article Dune Messiah. StarCraft has a rich storyline, and it should be detailed, not half-assed.

I check for typos, but obviously I'll miss some. Is there a spell-check?

Unfortunately, there is no spellcheck. That's something I've always wished for myself. I see you changed most of the "it's" to "its." Cutting down on the article just a little bit wouldn't make them "half-assed." You're overexaggerating. There's just some things here and there that you insert that are in the game that aren't really relevant to the overall storyline, that's all I'm saying. And the Sons of Korhal was a rebel group, while the Dominion was an established government. Merging those two is like merging the Rebel Alliance (Star Wars) and New Republic (Star Wars) articles. Oh, and, could you put your responses on my talk page? bob rulz 03:39, Apr 22, 2005 (UTC)
Oh, and, as another response...she is not referred to as "Infested Kerrigan" in-game. Tell me one time where any of the characters refer to her as Infested Kerrigan. They still refer to her as Kerrigan. The Infested part is a gameplay title to distinguish her from the uninfested Kerrigan. It is a gameplay title, not a storyline title. bob rulz 03:58, Apr 26, 2005 (UTC)

Template:InUse[edit]

you might want to use {{template:inuse}} while you're working on Starcraft: Ghost ;) Project2501a 22:28, 18 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

{{(inuse)}}

Thanks for the heads up, but I don't understand. Does that mean I should create that template, or put it on that page?

you should put it in the page, while working. it's like a "MEN AT WORK" sign. warns people that someone's working on this article.
if you are employed by Blizzard, by the way, please tell me who the fuck is responsible for Ghost not being out, yet ^_^ I can hire my own assasign ^_^ thanks! :) Project2501a 22:53, 18 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No, i'm not an employee of blizzard, and if i was, i'd quit :) no i'm not gonna edit the article. you can keep the template on top of the article for 24-48hrs while you are editing. I'm sorry to hear about your cold. Have some chickensoup!
Hope you feel better!

The article The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, for which you created a stub, was originally deleted a few days ago because it was still non-notable at the time. If you want to undelete the good version, you should list it at Wikipedia:Deletion review, though I personally think it's probably a little soon. Because of the situation, though, your stub will probably be either speedily deleted or (if undeleted) reverted to the old version. I thought you might to be warned so you're not taken by surprise. Thanks! --AySz88^-^ 04:17, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, and it got deleted as I was typing my message. So we'll probably have to list it at Wikipedia:Deletion review. --AySz88^-^ 04:18, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strategy Guides[edit]

Copied from Talk:Zerg:

This article needs the strategy info taken out. That stuff goes in wikibooks, not here. Night Gyr 22:10, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Most RTS articles have strategy included. Kimera757 19:03, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They shouldn't. To quote WP:NOT:

Instruction manuals - while Wikipedia has descriptions of people, places, and things, Wikipedia articles should not include instruction - advice (legal, medical, or otherwise), suggestions, or contain "how-to"s. This includes tutorials, walk-throughs, instruction manuals, video game guides, and recipes. Wikibooks is a Wikipedia sister-project which is better suited for such things.

The information should be transwikied to Wikibooks. Instructional information belongs at wikibooks:StarCraft:Strategy Guide. We already have a book there in progress, so once that book holds this information, it should be deleted from the article. I'm retagging it.

I'd like you to keep this in mind for all starcraft articles, since you seem to be very enthusiastic about editing them. If you see strategy info, move it over to wikibooks and clear it out of the article, dropping in a transwiki link as you do. It tightens them up and makes them easier to read for the person who wants to know the facts, not the details on how best to zerg rush. Night Gyr

House Tarkanan[edit]

You recently added a House to the Dragonmarked house article. Could you please provide an ISBN number and a short relevant quote from the book? I'd like to avoid adding uncited information whenever possible, and would like to include a reference as per timeline of evolution. Thank you. -- Ec5618 00:02, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

StarCraft 64[edit]

Starcraft related article[edit]

Hi, I recently made the stub Spell-Caster (Real-time strategy) which isn't a topic I note a lot about, but judging from your contributions you probably do. If you don't mind, I'd really appreciate your help expanding the article. Thanks. JoshuaZ 19:34, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Terrazine, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Unspecified source for Image:Sarah Kerrigan.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sarah Kerrigan.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:08, 13 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TomStar81 (Talk) 07:08, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Sarah Kerrigan.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Sarah Kerrigan.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TomStar81 (Talk) 07:13, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
