Mebibyte/megabyte and so on[edit]

Just though I'd let you know that mebibyte is the same thing as megabyte (you reverted a change on Nintendo DS), but some people are trying to use the mebibyte term instead to signify that it goes up by factors of 1024, not 1000. Andre (talk) 20:42, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC)

  • Whoops, I had it remembered the other way around, with mibibyte as the decimalised version and megabyte as the "proper" version (after all, it meant factors of 1024 first). Thanks for the heads-up. Sockatume 22:01, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Rambot Multi-Licensing Drive[edit]

I'm a "no", on the basis that it will only work effectively if the entire project is part of it. I can't imagine how you'd manage to copy across my contributions without also snaring segments of previous users' contributions which I happen to have rephrased. Sockatume 00:07, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I'll add you to the list of opt-outs, although the percentage of the project that is part of it is growing daily. I have been unable to recalculate the number, but it was 25% before I started the rambot spamming. If you rephrase contributions of non-multi-licensors, then you can't multi-liense that section. No way around this. But most of the time if a project such as WikiTravel wants to use our articles, they don't need the entire article. Just whatever portions are interesting in the framework of a 3-fold travel brochure. Ram-Man (comment) (talk)[[]] 14:17, Dec 14, 2004 (UTC)

Phillips Academy[edit]

It is pretty sad, I agree. The (spoiled and ill-disciplined) teenage male mind at work, I expect. Alas, I expect your sarcasm will bounce off their egos... Nice try, though - I got a chuckle out of it. Noel (talk) 17:02, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Wiesenthaler[edit]

Aloha. I am not "User:Nasrallah" nor am I involved in any of the alleged conflict, so I can't commment on or participate in any RfA. A quick look shows that he has accused many people of being a "sockpuppet". You should also know that Wiesenthaler has been permanently blocked for violating Wikipedia policies. --Viriditas | Talk 21:59, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I included you because he'd called one of the folk involved in the thing a sockpuppet of you , so I thought your input would've been valuable (even if it was just to point out the immeasurable irony of Wiesenthaler's claims, and refute them). Sorry about that, bit of a goof. He's been blocked now, having his sockpuppet status confirmed, and his pest status wasn't really in doubt. [[User:Sockatume|Talk 22:37, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Vandalism[edit]

Thanks for your note. I didn't quite catch the drift of it. What is your Request for Arbitration and how do I fit in? Best, Slim 21:56, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)

I just saw your request. I think this has been dealt with. Wiesenthaler admitted being a sockpuppet, was very abusive, and was banned, so far as I know. Also, it wasn't a personal issue at all, as I believe you said. It was just a case of vandalism, now over. Slim 21:59, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)
Sorry, I usually treat talk-page and user-page related issues as different from article issues, hence "personal", which probably wasn't a well-chosen word. If Wiesenthaler's been blocked then the thing's resolved (it was a case of "Suspected sockpuppet chain" vs "People accusing sockpuppet").
HI Sockatume, the problem user was Wiesenthaler, who admitted being a sockpuppet, and Goldberg, who was also one, and they were probably the same person. Wiesenthaler was running around inserting abusive personal attacks into article and user Talk pages, and if anyone responded, he accused them of being sockpuppets etc. He did it only to cause trouble. For two days, he managed to cause chaos, but now he's been banned, and hopefully won't return in any other form.  :-) Best, Slim 22:28, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)
That's great, when he popped up the second time in VIP, I'd become worried that it'd never be resolved, hence the committee. Keep up the good work. [[User:Sockatume|Talk 22:33, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Sockatupuppets[edit]

I didn't find it amusing to be listed on your RFAr without even a trace of evidence for your baseless and ludicrous allegation. You should ask questions before blindly rushing to sock it to someone. No need to reply. HistoryBuffEr 05:50, 2004 Dec 27 (UTC)

You had been one of the users in a chain of sockpuppet allegations related to a current dispute (one quietly resolved before I realised it, hence the withdrawal) on the wikipedia, therefore your input would've been useful when it came to arbitration. I did not wish to imply that you were in fact a sockpuppet. Apologies. Sockatume, Talk 13:31, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)
To elaborate, user X had been accused of being a sockpuppet of user Y, who had in turn been accused not too long previously of being a sockpuppet of you. If these allegations (and allegations of this kind were appearing in WP:VIP far too often) were correct, then you'd all have been the same person; if not, then you'd all be different users. I figured it would've made the process simpler if all three of you had been available to comment. In retrospect, I should've merely listed the users with the immediate grievance, and then requested your assistance indirectly, however I'm unfamiliar with arbitration procedure. Again, apologies, I'd just been getting tired of looking at this nonsense on the vandalism page and probably lost my temper. Sockatume, Talk 13:41, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)
